Summary
Safe to say the Gun Adventure did not go well. Caine is smart enough to admit that. HOWEVER he IS intrigued by the situation it brought on --- it's unprecedented! Two humans abstracting at the same time is very, very bad, and losing Jax and Pomni so soon after Kaufmo would be terrible for team morale! The solution is simple: cut out the abstracted and corrupted bits, but that leaves two halves.
Fortunately, two halves just so happen to make a whole. So what if the result is a little unconventional?
AKA
Pomni and Jax start to abstract after the Caine gives them all guns. They fight and fight and fight until finally locking themselves away, and the others would be lying if they said they weren't grateful for the newfound lapse in argument.
But something changes. A new character shows up in the circus --- an uncanny combination of their two missing companions --- and an oddly sentient abstraction begins to stalk them. Turns out, abstraction is a complicated process. You shouldn't shove a brass key into a combination lock. They both might break.

Summary
An unsettling crackling fills her ears and a sharp electric feeling buzzes through her veins. Her stomach flips, and the feeling of falling overtakes her senses. A wave of darkness fades in and out of her vision. She gasps desperately as her senses come back. Forehead on the ground she takes in the feeling of crusted old carpet fibers under her skin. Her eyes flutter open to an old office room, papers scattered about. She slowly brings her calloused fingertips to her face, holding it tightly. “What the fuck?” She whispers, glancing around. She’s met with an old computer with an absurdly colorful screen.
tldr; everyone escapes the circus but has no memory of it :)

The exit was a lie. Freedom was an illusion. And the knowledge that Caine can reach inside their minds leaves a fear stronger than abstraction. Pomni doesn't know what to think. The tiny silver shred of hope she had always held onto was gone forever. Every thought feels suspect. Every emotion feels borrowed. When reality itself is artificial, how can she trust anything she feels?

And yet there was a unique sense of escapism within the dark, the bright artificial colors belonging to the Circus were nowhere to be found. Not a single cheery jingle can be heard with how apparently soundproof his walls are. It was comforting and a breath of fresh air.

Jax feels like shit for pushing away. Like his entire body is screaming at him to stop. Like he knows her, and doesn't want her to leave him.
Caine decides to, with permission, to copy everyone's human memories to make movies out of them. Hopefully allowing Pomni and Jax (and everyone else) to get some type of closure.
