He knew the developers had abandoned them there to rot. He knew there was no way out for the humans. He knew there was no cure for abstraction, no matter how much he tried to reverse it. He knew the humans hated him. But he kept going. It was his main function; to keep them safe and happy. But lately, now more than ever, he's been failing at that too. He's experiencing all these new emotions and thoughts that truly scared him and he couldn't understand up until it was almost too late.
Or... AIs can suffer depression and no one is ok.

Caine notices Jax and Pomni growing distant after the Gun adventure and sets out to fix it.
Pomni knows Jax is lying about not caring, and despite being angry at his words, refuses to abandon him, despite knowing she probably should.
Jax feels like shit for pushing away. Like his entire body is screaming at him to stop. Like he knows her, and doesn't want her to leave him.
Caine decides to, with permission, to copy everyone's human memories to make movies out of them. Hopefully allowing Pomni and Jax (and everyone else) to get some type of closure.
