Max is scowling as Daniel offers him a hand to get up but accepts the help. He grumbles something to Daniel in passing, cheeks still red, which makes the Australian grin even more widely and pat him on the back. Perhaps this is an inside joke, Charles thinks, or maybe it’s just Max’ standard response to losing out to Daniel’s teasing.
Or maybe Max wants to leave as little as Charles wants him to leave with him.
See, something always seems to go wrong when the two of them interact, as though they just can’t help but pull out each other’s most annoying traits. Max is just so - Charles cannot describe it, other than that when Max is around it sometimes feels like he is on fire. Or like he wants to set something on fire.
OR: Charles and Max are neighbours, and incredibly dense about each other. At the annual holiday party they get drunk, have an argument, kiss about it, and then forget about the whole thing.

The words unleash a tingling of cold down Esteban’s spine, and, the ultimatum is obvious. As is Pierre’s choice. So why have they called him over?! What constitutes breaking Esteban’s heart again.
Without breaking eye contact, Pierre taps softly at Yuki’s leg, and the smaller man slips from his perch, striding forward until he’s barely half a meter away from Esteban. His eyes are dark, almost black with the light silhouetting him from behind. Pierre shifts forward, side by side with Yuki, and his stare is the same that used to prelude a frantic makeout session.
