The Adventures Of The Lightbringer

Summary:

Thanks to a diligent effort of a certain "tamed" robot, Niko and the Player were able to reunite at last and establish a communication between their worlds.
Since then, they share a lot of fullfiling conversations every day and despite the distance between them, they were able to create an miraculous bond with one another.

But one day, when the Player was sharing one of their stories regarding a certain game, everything changed.
For Niko, it was nothing but to call for another adventure alongside their best friend and that certain robot would make sure their dearest wish will come true.

Chapter 1: The Prelude

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

"[I must say it was a rather an intruiging tale.]" - The Entity said as the story was still lingering on their mind.

"Woah, that was creepy!" - Niko said who gotten chills upon hearing the story.

"I know right? *Sigh Why do I have a strange feeling that world is just like that one from before?" - Player asked out loud while not actually expecting an answer.

The Player was telling Niko about the end of Chapter in the game called "Deltarune". The whole sequence rubbed them in the wrong way, as it reminded that time they played "OneShot", where they met Niko for the first time.

[I think I may have a solution to your predicament.]" - The Entity answered to Player's question.

"Hm? Do you have something in mind?"

"[After a brief scan of the game you mentioned, I was able t-]"

As The Entity was presenting their case, their monologue was suddently cut short.

"Woah, woah! Did you just tweaked with my computer without my permission? Again!?"

"[...Nothing of sorts. And even if I did, the finest antivirus sofrware would had struggled with detecting my activities.]" - The Entity replied as they bragging about their capabilities to Player's annoyance.

"Can you not do that without my consent? I don't want to brick my PC, I just bought it recently..."

Despite Player's objections, The Entity continued.

"[As I was saying, I'm capable of launching the game through a different launcher while simultaneously utilizing game's assets. That way you can continue even after credits]."

"One problem, last time I checked I was stuck in the cage. On top of that I don't even have a avatar I could use and if my theory holds any water, I doubt Kris would be keen on letting me use theirs."

The Player suspected it may not be so easy but The Entity already had a response prepared.

"[For the cage, very likely I can teleport the SOUL to any destination when the kid is asleep. As for the avatar, it's a non issue. In fact, I may ju-]"

"I have an idea! I have an idea!" - Niko suddenly enthusiastically barged in the middle of the sentence.

"Yes Niko?"

"What if...I would be your avatar? Y'know, just like the old times."

The Player had on back of their mind a possibilty of Niko proposing something like that. Which is why they made on effort to dissuade Niko.

"Niko...I appreciate the sugestion. However, if it's anything like last time I would rather not put you in danger. And even then, there is no guarantee everything will go smoothly. I just...I don't know if I can bear seeing you getting hurt."

"Ahh...I see. I'm sorry for suggesting that. I'm really happy you care for me...I know I'm not that smart but...I just wanted to be included y'know..." - Niko shared their feelings on the matter, making Player's heart sting a little.

"Niko..."

However, right before the silence could befall them, the cavalry has arrived on Niko's side.

"[If I may, I believe we should take on Niko's offer.]"

"Huh? Didn't I jus-"

Before the Player could say more, the Entity swiftly elaborated.

"[No no no, I heard you very clearly. I would like to inform you that during your conversation I was able to impletent adjustments alongside a backup mechanism that would prevent Niko from getting hurt even in the worst case scenarios.]"

After hearing The Entity out, the Player pondered on their chair. After some time, they spoke.

"Niko? Are you still here?"

"Hm. Yes?" - Niko made a slight nod and replied with hint of nervousness in their voice.

"Do you still...want to do it?"

After a moment of hesitaton, Niko nodded. That was enough for the Player to make a decision.

"I understand. Very well, let's do it. But before that, I want the Entity to make a proper checkup of the systems and make sure everything works as intended."

"[Child's play. Give me 15 minutes and I may even be able to inflitrate game's code in the meantime.]"

"Yay! New adventure! I cannot wait!" - Niko yelled enthusiastically, as they were excited on the prospect of new journey.

Despite the preparations made in the meantime, no one expected what would occur in the near future.

After the time has passed, the Entity has enacted the plan in motion.

Once the Player opened the game through alternative launcher, immediately they could see clearly visible at night red SOUL, levitating in the halls of a certain school that they knew too well. Soon after, Niko materialized on their left side. Their trusty friend was wearing a familiar outfit from the past albeit seeming to be slightly taller as it usually happens when a person grows up.

Niko opened their eyes as they presented itself as shining beacon among the darkness.

"Woah...I'm really here. Hey! Can you hear me!?" - Niko yelled in the halls but thankfully they didn't need to wait long for response.

"Yes Niko, I can hear you, there is no need to scream. Look to your right."

"Oh!"

After getting surprised by the sight, Niko briefly stared with curiosity until they went down and gently grasped it in their palms.

"Is that really you? It's so nice to finally see you." - Niko says with a genuine smile.

"Likewise, although I wish I could return that feeling..."

The Player wished they could have more tangible body to work with alas some things never meant to be, still Niko apreciated the sentiment.

"Teehee! So, what I have to do?" - Niko asked and soon the Entity has finally spoken as they didn't want to risk ruining the heartfelt reunion.

"[You have to insert the SOUL into your body.]"

Niko confused, looked at the SOUL as if looking for elaboration.

"Yeah, I'm not sure how does it suppose to work. The only thing is I know is how to uhh...forcibly taking it away from the body." - The Player said while trying to mince the words for Niko's sake. Some things better left unsaid.

"[Not a problem. Niko just needs to close the eyes and think of you, just like in the past.]

"Hm, I got it!"

Niko closed their eyes and focused on the SOUL they are holding. Soon, as if the SOUL could feel Niko's feelings, it emitted an energy so strong the Player's screen went white.

After few seconds, the light subsided and Niko was left alone while the SOUL disappeared from sight.

"Looks like it was successful. How are you feeling Niko?" - The Player asked Niko, looking for any potential side effects.

"Better than ever! Let's go on the adventure, friend!" - Niko responded with confidence, immediately dispeling Player's concerns.

The Player was pressing the buttons on their keyboard and Niko did exactly as instructed, which meant their little excursion could truly begin.

With the guidance of the Player, Niko was lead to an abandonded classroom, where initially was a Dark World. Considering the Dark Fountain was sealed, Player had doubts whenever they could go back but apparently the Entity managed to "undone" the process which ended up working after Niko opened the door and there was nothing but darkness inside.

Thanks to Niko's experience in the "OneShot" world, they were no longer afraid of dark and no being able to see anything on the other side, Niko didn't falter and swiftly went through the door.

As Niko was falling down, eventually was able to land at the front gate of the Card Castle. Niko was amazed by the sight before them. However it didn't last long as something else caught Niko's attention.

"Huh!? When did this come from?" - Niko exclaimed with surprise.

Right before Niko, there was a lightbulb hanging in the air. And it wasn't any lightbulb, it was seemingly looking similiar to the from the past.

As Niko was taking the lightbulb into their hands, the Entity commented on another change.

"[Curious. It appears the Dark World has affected Niko's appearance as well.]

After hearing it, Niko looked over their appearance. The clothes remained the same but the colors where completely different as hat and overcoat where in the pure white while the scarf was in the jet black, contrasting heavily with each other.

"Huh, that's interesting. Let me check something real qui- OH MY GOODNESS!"

As Player wanted to check the stat sheet, the sight completely them by surprise.

Niko                LV1 Lightbearer

                       Kind soul that lightens

                       the way in the dark.

Attack: 36       0% ACT

Defense: 21    11% SERENE PRAYER

Magic: 46        20% LIGHT BARRIER

?

?

Guts: & & & & & (&=Flame)

"AND 550 HP TOO????" - Player screamed, still not recovering from the last shock.

Niko's stats were beyond what he expected. Somehow, their cute "cat" friend completely outshined the so-called "heroes of the prophecy".

"Entity, did you mess with the stat sheet?"

"[On the contrary, I'm as perplexed as you are. It appears this world may heavily resonate with Niko.]" - The Entity responded with a neutral but genuine voice.

Player wasn't still convinced but before they could press further, Niko awkwardly jump into conversation.

"Is...that good?"

"Are you kidding, your stats are insane. You are incredible Niko."

Player complimented Niko as regardless what they felt at the moment, they couldn't help but proud of their friend.

"Hehe...You can leave everything to me. I will take on any challenge!" - Niko said with confident voice.

After the exchange, Player tell their next course of action.

"Alright, I want to for a certain broken key fragment. I got two but the last one elude. If I remember corrently it's somewhere where "you walk where stars don't shine" or something but ultimately I couldn't point the location."

Due to not being able to complete a certain sidequest, the Player wanted to use this opportunity to complete it. Interestingly enough, no items from Kris's inventory had carried out beside the broken key pieces. Still, they weren't sure if the "Jester" was still inside that cell.

"[Scanning.....I found a hidden pathway. You must backtrack to the forest.]"

"Wow, that was fast...Let's go then."

"Lead the way!"

Player knew the location as it was the one they spent a lot of time, fruitlessly searching for the path that could led to the key.

After they get to the location, Niko pointed at the chest right before their eyes, seperated by the abyss.

"Is that what you were looking for?"

"Yes it is. Now, how are we getting there?"

As Niko was looking over the place, their eyes spotted a certain odd spot, where the stars "dissapeared" and repeated at will as if in the middle something was there.

"I see it! It's right there."

After the Player looked at it and check out the location. It turns out there was a hidden path there all along. In the retrospect, it wasn't even that well hidden although Player was too embarassed to admit that. Thankfully, beside that there was nothing standing in their way, Niko was able to open the chest and collect the last remaining key piece.

"[All key pieces collected. I'm afraid they won't be much use.]"

"I know who could fix it, although they probably not in the same place."

Player recalled the time, when most if not all Darkners gathered at the top of the Card Castle. There was one way to find out whenever that was still the case.

After taking collecting the key pieces, Niko went back to the Card Castle front gate. Once they entered, a voice ringed in the hallway.

Well well, what do we have here? A little cat lost in the halls?

As Niko was looking around, eventually they noticed a shadow standing still not so far away and a lighting struck, revealing the silhouette. The halls were engulfed by a laughter.

"Boo! Scared yet?" - The Mischievous Darkner asked with a tongue out of their mouth.

it turns out it was someone Player was familiar all too well.

"Hey! I'm not a cat. I'm Niko!" - Niko responded with pout but Lancer didn't react upon Niko's objection.

"So that means, Susie and blue human are here too?"

As Lancer looking over the hall for the friends he made just a few hours ago, Niko clarified.

"I'm sorry, I'm just here by myself."

"Oh..." - Lancer responded, bummed out a little bit.

To use the fact they bumped into Lancer, Player decided to prod for information.

"Niko, ask about Malius."

"Excuse me, if you don't mind do you know where I can find Malius?"

"Ma..lius?"

Seeing Lancer's confusion, Player went for more "simpler" explanation for the Darkner.

"Living hammer thingy."

"Living hammer thingy." - Niko repeated like a robot as soon as they heard the sentence.

"Oooh! I get it! You wanna get a massage, don't ya? I have good news for you. After you take the elevator on the right, go to the place lesser dad used to run. The massages were amazing!"

"Lesser...dad?"

"Don't think about it too hard."

After Lancer gave the directions, Niko went to the elevator. Before going up, they bid farewell to Lancer.

"I see. Thank you very much uhh..."

"Lancer! The ruler of this kingdom for like an hour." - Lancer responded as he was properly introducing himself.

"Hm. See you later."

As Niko happily waved, Lancer said something they really didn't want to hear.

"Have a good massage, cute cat person!"

The elevator door closed before Niko could protest, making Niko sigh.

Once Niko left, another unexpected visitor had appeared.

"Hoh hoh! Isn't that a Toothpaste boy? Is there a special occasion or something?" - Lancer said with happy tone to the "Prince of the Dark", Ralsei.

"Well you can say that. It seems the Dark Fountain opened here again. Say, was that a Lightner you were talking to?" - Ralsei asked as his glasses shine concealed his eyes.

"Yup! They wanted a massage so I told them where they can get one." - Lancer responded, completely oblivious to the gravity of the situation.

"I...see."

Ralsei was left dumbfounted upon seeing the already sealed Fountain, manifesting once more. Not only that, another Lightner was spotted that wasn't neither Kris or Susie.

"Do you want me let them know that you are looking for them?"

"No, thank you. I will take it from here.

Prince couldn't comprehend as to why this occured in the first place. Although, when Ralsei was observing Niko from the shadows, to his shock he felt a familiar presence within them.

After successfully repairing the prison key, Niko thanked Malius and went back to the main halls. Afterwards, Player told Niko regarding another elevator on the right.

Eventually, Niko ended in a place that gave a feeling as it was cut from the rest of the world. After a loooong walk, Niko went downstairs and heard something within the cell.

"UEE HEE HEE, HOW COULD THEY LEAVE ME LIKE THIS. I JUST WANTED TO PLAY A FUN GAME. BUT LO, IS THAT A NEW FACE I SEE?" - The figure asked, surprised seeing another Lightner.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Niko and I'm here to free you."

Niko was briefed by Player about their objective before Niko entered the game, so Niko already knew they are at the right place.

"IS THAT A KEY I SEE? FINALLY SOMEONE WILL BE FREE FROM THIS AWFUL PRISON."

Niko was little perplexed after hearing figure's words.

"Free? Aren't you the one in jail?"

"THINGS DON'T SEEM SUCH FROM HERE, LIGHTNER!"

"Lightner? You mean me?" - Niko asked as they pointed themselves.

"WHO ELSE IT WOULD BE? BY LOOKING IN YOUR EYES, I FEEL YOU KNOW MUCH MORE THAN YOU MAY REALIZE. UNLIKE OTHER LIGHTNERS, UNAWARE OF THE TRUTHS OF THE WORLD."

Upon hearing this, Niko's face slightly contorted.

"DON'T MAKE SUCH A SOUR FACE. I INVITE YOU GO OUTSIDE ONCE YOU MADE YOUR MIND!"

Out of the blue, the key flew out of Niko's pocket and insterted itself into a keyhole, creating a door within the cell.

After the door loudly opened itself, Niko broke the silence.

"Does...he know?"

"[Impossible. The process of creation of this launcher was conducted about 1 hour 9 minues and 24 seconds prior. He must have been talking about something else.]"

"Well, the shopkeeper DID said he went crazy. But still...Niko I don't what will happen once you step inside the cell, the odds are you may get hurt. Just saying, you don't have to do this if you don't want to."

Player tried to warm Niko about upcoming danger but Niko only vigorously shook their head to signal that Niko already made their mind.

"Thank you for concern but no worries! As you said I'm tough besides you are here to guide me. Nothing would be able stand against us!" - Niko reassured Player.

"[Don't forget me. I'm monitoring this 24/7. Nothing would escape my watch.]"

"You two...okay here goes nothing."

After hearing the support of Niko and Entity, Niko went inside the cell.

There was nothing but a caurosel-like room in the darkness. And right before Niko, there was someone looking like a jester, eagerly awaiting a new visitor.

"UEE HEE HEE! VISITOR, VISITOR! NOW WE CAN PLAY, PLAY!" - Jester exclaimed with joy.

"I love playing! What are we going to do?"

"OH, IT'S JUST A SIMPLE NUMBERS GAME."

"Niko! Look out!"

As Player was suspicious regarding Jester's intentions, after they noticed scythes from the corner of the screen they quickly warned Niko about the danger.

Thankfully, perhaps due to insane stats, Niko dodged that almost effortlessly.

"WHEN YOUR HP DROPS TO 0, YOU LOSE!"

"Can't we really play something else?" - Niko asked, holding a tiny hope that the fight could be averted.

"UEE HEE HEE! BUT IT IS A SIMPLE GAME! YOU WILL LOVE IT!"

As Jester's laugh echoes through the cell, Niko braced themselves and stood firmly against the trickster. The fight has begun.

As the fight has started, Player did an action they like doing any combat sequence.

>>> [ACT] JEVIL

"Check? As in looking at their stat sheet?"

Niko did the fingergun gun, despite not quite understanding the point of doing that pose. Immediately after a load of information went inside Niko's brain.

JEVIL - 10 ATK 5 DF 3500 HP

Devilish jester that was "freed" by the darkened mirror. Play along or...?

"CHAOS! CHAOS!"

After checking Jevil, he launched several spade bullet volleys toward Niko. Despite the difficulty of the attack being on much higher level in comparison to fights in the normal game, Player was able to avoid all of them bar one at the very beginning.

>>> - 21 HP (529/550 HP)

"Sorry Niko, did it hurt?" - Player asked with concern.

While Niko HP loss was negligible, it didn't mean Niko didn't feel pain. But Niko quickly shook their head as if they expected hearing that question.

"Hm. I'm fine but do we really have to fight him?"

As if resonating with Niko's feelings, the lightbulb floated right before Niko and shined through, temporarily blinding Jevil in the process.

New ACT [Absorb] was unlocked.

Intrigued by the unexpected development, Player used the new ACT without a hesitation.

>>> [ACT] Absorb

Niko closer their eyes and channelled energy into the lightbulb, which resulted in covering the SOUL with a sparkly aura.

"SUCH A POWERFULL LIGHT. IT MAKES ME EXCITED!"

As if he became more feral, Jevil unleashed his Spiral Attack against Niko. However, as spade bullets were about to close in, the surrounding aura dissipated them into nothingness.

Mercy bar unlocked.

>>> +25%

Jevil's mercy bar was previously crossed out, indicating as if sparing wasn't possible however to due miracle made by Niko, another way was within their reach. To not waste that opportunity, Player instructed Niko on next course of action.

"Niko, do it again! If you do it few more times, we may not need to attack him."

"Hm! On it." - Niko nodded as their minds become one for a moment.

>>> [ACT] Absorb

This time without Player's imput, Niko channelled energy once again but after seeing the results, Jevil wasn't so amused by the sight.

"BOO HOO! YOU DON'T WANT TO PLAY WITH ME?"

JEVIL's attack went up!

Jevil was rapidly deploying diamond bullets but to his dismay the attack was completely ineffective.

>>> +25%

Niko seeing the effectiveness of the aura, continued on using the same ACT.

>>> [ACT] Absorb

"WHAT A BUZZKILL. WE SUPPOSED TO HAVE FUN TOGETHER!"

JEVIL's attack went up! Next move is powered up!

As Jevil was erratically moving around, a carousel attack with horses and ducks was unleashed upon Niko. Niko was intimidated by the upcoming attack but despite that the aura made a quick work of them, pushing Jevil over the edge.

>>> +25%

JEVIL's attack went to maximum!

While Niko had a bad feeling about the notification, they knew they are very close in sparing Jevil thus there was no doubts in their mind.

>>> [ACT] Absorb

"THAT IS ENOUGH! IF YOU DON'T WANNA PLAY, I WILL MAKE YOU PLAY!"

As last act of desperation, Jevil launched his final attack. A giant scythe from above collided with the barrier that just manifested itself through the sparkling aura. Unlike the other times, the cracks were starting to show within the barrier. It appears that it's matter of time before it breaks through.

"I...don't think...I can hold on any longer..." - Niko says as they continue to channel the magic.

Before the hope was lost, Player came in clutch.

"Niko, close your eyes and focus on your lightbulb!"

As Niko closed their eyes, Niko concentrated the focus unto lightbulb. Right before the barrier was broken, the giant scythe started dissipating and after not feeling any pressure Niko opened their eyes.

A big orb was floating right above Niko as if their confidence was reneved, Niko subconsciously sended it right where Jevil was.

"UEE HEE HEE! I'M I-"

The explosion cut Jevil mid-sentence, ending the battle.

"Yay! We did it! Wait..."

Before Niko could celebrate, Niko realized what did they do. Once smoke dissapeared, a sight of battered figure of jester was lying on the floor entered Niko's eyes which prompted them to hurry up to Jevil's side.

"Are you okay, mister!?" - Niko asked with a terrified look.

Niko didn't wish to harm anyone in yet for a moment, Niko's mind went astray unaware of their actions.

"UEE...HEE...HEE...SO SMALL AND YET SO STRONG...SO YOUNG AND YET SO DETERMINED...IT WAS THE MOST FUN I EVER HAD..." - Jevil responded as he's trying to console Niko in his own way.

"[Please be at ease. After scaning jester's condition, there is no immediate threat to his life]" - The Entity said.

Upon closer inspection, Jevil seems to be bruised up quite considerably but there was something Niko noticed interesting regarding Jevil's expression. Unlike previously, there doesn't seem to be any hint of madness in Jevil's eyes. It's almost like the evil influence was purified from him due to being hit by that big orb.

Unaware of Niko's thoughts, Jevil continued his monologue in much calmer tone.

"WHEN I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR I THOUGHT....I SET MYSELF FREE FROM THIS WORLD AND YET...AFTER I SAW YOU...I..."

"What did you saw...in that mirror?"

"THE FUTILITY OF OUR EXISTENCE...IT NEVER MATTERED WHAT WILL WE DO OR WHAT WILL HAPPEN...EVERYTHING WAS PRE-DETERMINED...BUT YOU..."

Jevil grabbed Niko's arm which was currently upholding him.

"YOU ARE NOT FROM HERE AREN'T YOU...UNLIKE US, YOU ARE TRULY FREE...FROM THE CHAINS OF THE PROPHECY...MAYHAPS YOU HAVE A POWER TO DO IMPOSSIBLE...I SEE...LET ME LEND YOU MYSELF AND USE ME HOW YOU SEE FIT..."

Not awaiting response, Jevil turned himself into the stars which then immediately floated into Niko's pocket.

(You got ShadowCrystal.)

(DEVILSKNIFE was added to your WEAPONs.)

(JEVILSTAIL was added to your ARMORs.)

However didn't paid heed toward what just happens as Niko was shaken to the core to the point they remained still for a while longer.

After a long while, Niko eventually went back to the elevator. During the strangely long ride, the Entity has spoken.

"[It appears the situation is much more complicated than expected. More throughout investigation of jester's cryptic statements may be in order.]"

Niko didn't respond to Entity's comment, instead Niko called the Player.

"Friend...are you still here?"

"Yes." - Player said firmly.

Player had no clue what to say, even now they feel tense as they didn't quite know what Niko had in mind. However the following question left the Player flabbergasted.

"Can we...come back another time?"

"! No, that's out of question. This is not something you should trouble yourself with."

As if in something just opened a pandora's box, Player's honest feelings came out in the full display. Player already had objections regarding involving Niko in this and after seeing their dear friend getting traumatized by the battle with Jevil, they cursed themselves for allowing it to happen in the first place. Unfortunately, due to the events Niko wasn't in the right mind at the time and didn't notice Player's genuine concern for Niko.

"...If I'm being a burden, just say it okay?" - Niko said as they sadly looked at the ground.

"No, no! It's nothing like that. It's just...I have to collect my thoughts first, alright?"

"...Okay."

Eventually in a complete silence, Niko managed get to the top of the Card Castle. As Niko was about to go to where the Dark Fountain lied, a familiar figure has called them.

"Hey, you are that cat person! What's up with that sad face?" - Lancer asked.

"It's nothing. Is this the right way to the fountain?" - Niko asked back, unconcerned with him calling Niko a "cat" again.

"Yup! I never I thought I would get a massage. Are you leaving already?"

"Yes, I think I'm exhausted for today." - Niko replied with a forced smile.

"Say hi to Susie for me! Oh for that blue human too!" - Lancer yelled as he was waving toward Niko.

Lancer had no qualms regarding sealing the Dark Fountain as he didn't expect to be brought back anyway. He was happy to get a massage and get acquainted with another Lighter, although he pondered where did "Toothpaste Boy" went.

As Niko slowly approaching the Dark Fountain, a sense of awe swept Niko. Then, a SOUL manifested itself right in front of Niko.

"The heart...Is this my SOUL?" - Niko muttered as they were taking a closer look.

This is something Niko saw in the Jevil fight but didn't had an opportunity to ask about it. Niko recalled that Player's SOUL was red but this one was a bit different. The SOUL was green inside with a red outline.

As Niko was about to touch it, the SOUL slowly flew toward the Dark Fountain, initiating the sealing process.

Moment before the process was completed, a certain prince was tailing Niko since they went back from Jevil's cell and was observing from the back. After seeing Niko, he muttered something to himself and went away.

Chapter 2: A Wingdings World

Summary:

The Player, Niko and The Entity were dealing with their own matters, right before their next visit to the Dark World.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Next day, after discussing that matter from yesterday with The Entity, Player has decided to continue on their Deltarune playthrough through where they left of.

Currently the heroes are inside Seam's (Spelled "Shawn") shop which is being watched over by a certain Rudinn, who previously gave out a tip regarding Jevil. Player went here precisely because they were curious whenever Seam has interesting to say on the matter. Turns out it was in fact a right move.

"So we are here now, in a new world. And right off the heels of defeating that clown...Incredible." - Seam said, impressed by the heroes's feat.

"Uh, you mean that guy in the cell? We met him. Didn't fight him, though." - Susie responded as she has no recollection of ever fighting Jevil.

"...Is that right? Then what are you holding right now?"

After Seam pointed at Kris, they look at their hands, confused about they were talking about. However, after a closer inspection Kris noticed they are indeed holding something, it was almost corporeal but they soon noticed a glass shard.

"Okay, let me take it off your hands and appraise it."

Seam took the glass shard off Kris's hands and looked over it. It didn't take long for Seam to confirm their suspicions.

"It's indeed a Shadow Crystal. Fascinating..." - Seam muttered, intrigued by the circumstances.

"Again, we didn't even fight that guy. Trust me, I would have remembered that in quite a detail." - Susie half-jockingly said with a brazen grin.

During her adventures in the Dark World, while she came to understand she didn't need to smash everything in her path, it didn't meant she was opposed to get in the fight when necessary.

"Well...regardless how did you get them, let me give you a tip. Call it a premonition, but I get the feeling you may find more of these. I warm you, they are likely in the possession of powerful adversaries like him."

"That's cool and all but what we will get from doing that?" - Susie asked as she has eyes on the prize.

"If you can gather more Shadow Crystals, I can stitch together something incredible for you." - Seam elaborated albeit while not disclosing what the "prize" is.

"...We will keep that in mind." - Ralsei said, who was previously quiet through the entire conversation.

After the heroes said goodbyes to the shopkeeper, Kris through Player's imput gave Susie a DEVILSKNIFE and Ralsei a JEVILSTAIL, the equipment they got from Jevil fight. Thankfully, the Entity's attempt to tranfer the spoils to Kris's inventory succeeded without a hitch.

"Ooh! That's a sick axe! Check this out!"

Susie did a multiple spins with new weapon, some in the air. She finished it off with a cool pose that was holding DEVILSKNIFE with a left arm while pointing with a right hand.

"Kris, where did you get this stuff anyway?" Next time, give me a heads up when you go to the "arms dealer" of yours. - Susie said with a daring smirk.

But Kris merely shrugged off as they also didn't know either. As far as Kris could tell, they were just...already there for some reason.

"It's sure is a mystery..." - Ralsei said as he was continously giving out side glanced to Kris.

It didn't escape Player's attention that Ralsei was acting strangely compare to his previous known behaviour. The Entity inform them that right before the Dark Fountain was sealed, for a moment there was something in dark which then promptly disappeared without a trace.

While there were no concrete proof that it was Ralsei, his mannerisms definitely didn't help his case.

For a moment, Player wished Niko was there as in that case they could have confront Ralsei regarding his odd behaviour. Unfortunately, they couldn't do much with Kris not even talk to them unlike with Niko.

Player was pitying Kris at this moment as they imagine their confusion regarding the whole situation. That being said, they couldn't help but feel there was something off with Kris. While that cliffhanger from Chapter 1 turned out to be joke, they couldn't shake that feeling that they was something they didn't notice. Player asked the Entity to investigate it alongside other things.

As for Niko, they struggled on what to do. The Entity insisted that they should include Niko with their venture but they knew Jevil's words shook Niko quite considerably. The last thing they wanted is to give their dear friend a trauma.

However, they were also very happy when they went on adventure with Niko just like in the past which didn't help in decision making.

To put away their thoughts, Player continue playing Chapter 2 to its completion and noted anything that they thought could be of use. Thankfully for them, today there were no important matters to take care of in their world.

While Player was occupied with Chapter 2, a sunset has just risen in the Niko's homeworld. Right before the sleep, Niko was still concerned regarding the events in the Dark World but fortunately sometimes a good night sleep is what it needed to refresh your mind.

As Niko has risen from bed, a delicious smell invaded their nostrils. After climbing out of bed, Niko went to the wardrobe and put on their favourite outfit. Luckily, it was a summer break which meant Niko didn't need to concerned with school for the time being thus they could take their time.

Eventually, Niko left their room and went through their day routine. At the kitchen, a slim figure with a light brown hair with a ponytale was in middle of preparing breakfast.

"Good morning Mama!" - Niko exclaimed with a beaming smile.

"Good morning sweete. Did you sleep well?" - Niko's mom asked as she recalled Niko's sad expression from yesterday.

"Hm!" - Niko eagerly nodded.

Niko sat at the table as they were eyeing their favourite food, Mama's pancakes! Somehow, despite eating it very often the pancakes somehow became more and more delicious over time. It must been undoubtebly thanks to Niko's mom cooking skills which gets mor

"Yummy!" - Niko exclaimed happily as they put a hand on their cheek.

Niko's mom merely watched over their child with smile as Niko was happily chewing her pancakes.

After this moment of peace, suddenly clouds started appearing within the household.

"Mama, can I ask you something?" - Niko suddenly asked with a uncertain tone.

"? Of course sweete, what it is?"

Niko was fiddling with fingers as they had difficulty in figuring in how to start the conversation, eventually Niko came with something.

"Do you believe....our choices matter?" - Niko asked as they nervously looked at their dear mother.

"Sweete? Is this something your friends were talking about that bothered you?"

"! N-no, I just...you see...yes."

Niko tried to come with an excuse but ultimately Niko confessed to which their mother responded with a sigh.

It's been 2 years since that "unusual" incident where Niko went missing for a day. After Niko reunited with her that fateful day, Niko kept mentioning a "friend" that was "accompaning them on their way home when they were transported to another world".

On top of that, Niko occasionally brings subjects you wouldn't normally expect to hear from someone of their age. At first. she was concerned that they may be bad influence for Niko but when days has passed, no abnormalities occured beyond that so she didn't pursue the matter any further. Sometimes, she pondered how much of the Niko's story about "going to another world" was true even if sounds like a fewer dream.

Niko was staring at their mother, patiently awaiting her response. Niko's mom was aware of Niko's curiosity and eager to learn so whenever Niko is looking at her like that, she knew Niko won't back down unless given a satisfactory answer.

She sat at the table and told a story that she never got opportunity to disclose.

"Niko, have I ever told you about why we are living herein this village?"

"No, I don't think so." - Niko replied.

Niko's mom nodded and continued talking.

Shortly after you were born, your father and I had a conundrum. Due to me losing a job, we ended up having some financial problems when we were living in the city. While it wasn't a big issue at the time, we knew this needed to be care of as soon as possible. Then your father proposed for me alongside you to move out of the city to his home village, to this very house. This house was an inheritance from his late grandparents so the upkeep cost would been much more managaeble rather than us staying in the city. I was against it at first but he said that it would be better if one of us be there to raise you than none of us. At the end, I folded and we both decided that I will be a housekeeper and be responsible for properly raising you meanwhile he would be taking care of all financial matters so that we could live a peaceful life.

After hearing their mother's story, Niko's face was showing off all kind of emotions.

"I...never knew."

While Niko wouldn't say they had a bad relationship with their father per say, part of them resented the fact bar some special occasions he rarely visited their home. On top of that, Niko was always confused as to why their mother was always so welcoming toward him despite not even trying to spare some time outside of work to spend with them. Suddenly, Niko could felt someone was patting their head and looked up to see their mother, having an awkward smile.

"I'm sorry, Niko. I know you probably wished for your father to visits us more often. But if I can say something for certain..."

Upon hearing her words, Niko meet with mother's eyes.

"Your father loves very much, sweete. Everytime he comes back here, he constantly ask about you. How are you doing in school, do you have any friends, do we lack anything and more. I know it's sometimes hard to tell what he thinks but know that he's very proud of you. Just like I am."

Come to think of it, everytime Niko went to friends house to play, they pondered how come their interiors are much more "simpler" in comparison to their house. Suddenly Niko come to a realization as to why was the case.

Their home in the contrast, while may not to so impressive in certain places for a humble village like this so may call it even "extravagant". No wonder when Niko invites friends to their house, they always had amazed looks when looking around.

Today was an important day as it was when Niko learnt more about the difficulty of being an adult and the sacrifice their father made for Niko and their mother to live like this.

"...Mama, it is possible that in the future...Papa could visit us more often?"

Niko's mom was shocked for a moment as this was first time ever she heard Niko calling their father "Papa". She quickly composed herself and answered.

"I'm not sure but if that's what you really want...I will see what can I do." - Niko's mom said with a softer tone.

"Thank you for telling me, Mama. I want to go for a stroll."

To Niko's suggestion, their mother answered with a nod.

"Just remember to inform me in case you want to further from the village, okay sweete?"

"I will!"

Before Niko went outside, they tighly hugged their dear mother then they went away.

During the walk, Niko came to a certain understanding about their yesterday's adventure in the Dark World. Jevil believed that nothing he did mattered as everything was already pre-determined. And yet, Niko couldn't help but feel as if they heard someone thinking in the similiar manner. Until know, it eluded Niko who it was, today they realized how Jevil shared a lot of similiarities with the Entity.

The Entity, fuelled by despair was certain that there was no way for their friend to save the world and for Niko to return back home. And yet their friend, somehow with the help of other people they met on their journey managed to go above and beyond to achieve happy ending for all. As if Niko finally had inner peace, they looked at the sky and closed their eyes as the wind was gently brushing their hair.

Meanwhile inside Niko's house, an neat envelope was placed on table.

"Who would have guessed Niko would take it so well? Our child has grown so much..." - Niko's mom muttered to herself.

She recalled the times, in private her husband lamended the fact he couldn't be here for Niko. When she was notified that was a possibility for him to visit them more often, she was afraid of relaying the news to Niko as she thought they hated him for being absent for good chunk of their life. But after that conversation, it appeared her fears had been unfounded. She smiled as she was thinking the near future but that was story for another time.

During the time the Player and Niko were busy with their own matters, the Entity was in middle figuring stuff out in the world of computers.

As they one that brough these two together, the Entity has a great pride in their capabilities and won't rest until they fulfill the request made by the one who appreciated them for what they are.

"[This is rather troubling...]"

The Entity was reviewing the facts regarding the Prophecy and Jevil's statements but they felt there something amiss. For what they can tell, there is a serious discrepancy between the contents of the Prophecy and Jevil's feelings toward it. Alas, right now they lack necessary information to solve this mystery.

"[And then there is this black crystal...]"

Before the Entity transfered Jevil's items to Kris's inventory, they analyzed them all in a great detail. Among them, the Shadow Crystal stood out.

According to the Player, Jevil met a "strange knight" which resulted in him getting mad. Was the Shadow Crystal responsible for his madness? Did the Knight give them that item?

After doing some digging in in-game's code (After a number of attempts to convince the Player), they found out some clues in regards to it's abilities.

There is in-game text that suggests Shadow Crystal fuctions depending on where the user is. In the Dark World, it can give a glimpse into the Light World while in the Light World, it may have a power of clairvoyance. The interaction in the Light World is especially intruiging and if Entity's guess is correct, one of the heroes may end losing very personal in the future.

What did Jevil exactly saw through the Shadow Crystal? Whatever it was, he was able to tell that Niko wasn't a "part" of that world. As for the culprit, the Knight no investigations yielded any noteworthy results. They created Dark Fountains and possibly gave Shadow Crystal to Jevil but nothing too concrete. Likely more details will be revealed, the further the Player goes in the game.

"[Unfortunate. If only I could get further into the game's code...]"

During the investigations, the Entity has run into numerous roleblocks within that prevented any attempts on deeper infiltration. It's as if something didn't want them to find out more than they should.

Interesting enough, during those searches they found something...peculiar.

Where...

Where am I?

Hello...? Anyone...?

Is... is anybody out there...?

Someone!? Anyone!? Can anyone hear me!?

...

It's dark.

It's so dark here.

Someone, anyone, if you can hear me...

Say something... please...

"[Curious. A cry for help?]"

The Entity for a while pondered which of these finding they should report to the Player or it's better wait until they got more conclusive answer.

In the meantime while The Entity was distracted with the investigation, someone took a notice of their presence.

As the sun was about set, as they agreed they met at the set period to discuss the matter from yesterday.

"So, how did investigation go?" - Player asked the Entity.

"[My apologies, I deduced it's simply impossible with the current data to come with definitive conclusions to the task at hand. However, I will add I formed several theories regarding them, while inconclusive they may be, it could be beneficial to discuss those. If that's what you want.]

"I see. This will do for now, thank you for your work." - Player said, as they were expressing gratitude.

Player may gave them flak a lot of times but at the end they understood that Entity meant well.

Player turned their attention toward Niko, who was merely listening/

"Niko...is everything alright?"

"Hm! I'm okay." - Niko replied with a smile.

Player sighed in relief inside. However, it was merely a calm before the storm

"After some careful consideration, I belie-"

"I'm in." - Niko said with a confident tone, stunning Player for a moment.

"So...rry?"

"I know you are worried about what happened yesterday...and I'm glad to hear that from you...but..."

Niko stopped for a moment as they were collecting their thoughts.

"If it's anything like in the past, I don't want to stand aside and do nothing when I have a power to do so."

Making a step forward on your own can be rather scary. But for Niko who theoretically didn't had any stakes in it, despite that they weren't willing to let this go. Niko felt the Player's situation

Unfortunately, Niko's speech caused Player to went on a rant.

"But Niko, you must understand. It's not a laughing matter, you can easily seriously get hurt. We were lucky that you were able to go back home safety. There is no guarantee it will be the same in this case, besides what if we're just overthinking it. What if, this game isn't actually it's own living place like ours or that world? Do you want to just like that throw away your life on the whim!?"

Player's voice grew more fiercer with each sentence as if the dam just crumbled before them. As the awkward silence started creeping in, Player facepalmed upon a realization.

"(Now I done it...)"

Player knew Niko didn't mean harm and yet they yelled as if Niko done something unforgivable. All of Player's thoughts and their worry for Niko's state must have put them over the edge.

They have felt Niko may have hate them for this but the contrary to their worst fears, Niko merely smiled.

"Friend...you don't believe it yourself, do you?"

"Huh?"

"I mean...you did ask Entity to investigate. And from what I can tell...you had learned something that could prove that."

Emboldened by Player's lack of response, Niko continued.

"Please...put your faith in me. Besides, I won't be alone. The Entity will be there and...you would be there."

"..."

Player had suddenly lost their will to argue. Deep inside, they wanted to continue this adventure with Niko but they also feared for their safety. Still unable to utter a word, the Entity put their own hat in the ring.

"[Well said, Niko. I don't know about you but I believe they got you this time.]"

Upon subtle getting nudged by Entity, unable to take on both of them at once, Player folded.

"I understand. And I'm sorry."

"What for? That's for friends are for!" - Niko responded with a brim smile.

Player also smiled upon seeing Niko's response. They sometimes pondered whenever they weren't too soft on Niko but ultimately they didn't care about changing the status quo as seeing Niko happy gave all the motivation they needed.

"[Now that's settled, shall we begin?]"

After setling their argument once and for all, the trio were discussing about their next course of action.

The lights are out, empty streets, the loneliness but also serenity ingulfed Cyber City.

Within it there was a lone figure, small but powerful, bringing light to anyone how may need it, going through the palace that was once belonged to the "ruler" of this Dark World.

"Is this the right way?"

"Yes, this is where the Fun Gang fought Spamton."

During their meeting, Player revealed they managed to find another Shadow Crystal to the Entity's joy. It took them a moment as they forgot bosses holding Shadow Crystal's suppose to be tougher than most fights as the last one got steamrolled by Niko.

Niko currently inside Queen's basement, went left to where the fighting occured. Normally it would be inaccessible but for the Entity it was a child's play to bring it back. Eventually, Niko reached the destination where a lone damaged robot was being upheld by the vines.

"This is it. Entity, if you will."

"[Initiating scanning...]"

After Player found out more tidbits regarding robot that was used by the quirky salesman during playthrough, they felt investigating it could yield some interesting results.

As The Entity was about to start collecting data, suddenly the robot started glitching out until it dissapeared, interrupting the scan.

"Hmm. It's just disappeared right in front of me." - Niko stated the observation.

Then out of nowhere, the ground started violently shaking.

"! What''s...happening?"

"I have bad feeling about this. Niko run, now!"

Without asking any question, Niko did exactly what they were asking for. Soon after, the dark clouds started rapidly approaching from Niko's back.

Niko ran as fast they could and if they were stopped even for a moment, Niko would be caught by it almost immediately. After some intense running, Niko left the basement and soon after The Entity blocked the door as the dark clouds were about to pour out.

"I think we're in clear for now. Niko, are you okay?"

"Hm! What was that?" - Niko asked as while they didn't see what it was, they had a creeping feeling on their back.

"[A sudden influx of Dark World energy. The analysis indicates it would be dangerous getting yourself swallowed by the dark clouds. It was a right call for Niko to flee.]" - The Entity explained in their usual monotone tone.

As Niko left the room, they noticed there was something odd.

"Was it always so dark outside?"

Niko tried to squirm their eyes to see more through the window but outside there were only darkness that covering most of the Cyber City. The Player had a certain suspicion regarding the recent occurrence.

"I think it would be for the best to seal the fountain now. Entity, can you teleport Niko there?"

"[Not possible. Something intefering with the command.]"

It seems the worst case may had just happened right before their noses.

"Not good...Whoever it is, they certainly don't tolerate our meddling."

"You know who is responsible?" - Niko asked as their friend statement piqued their interest.

"I have a hunch. I will explain once you got out of here."

During the previous conversation, Player was hesitant mentioning a certain think as they didn't know how much they would be actually relevant but as the odd events within this world kept occuring, they couldn't help but to think about a certain "Royal Scientist".

"In that case we must hurry back to the fountain! Friend, lead the way."

Thankfully, in the past Player opened several shortcuts within the mansion which allowed Niko to reach the roof relatively quickly.

However as soon as they were climb to the rooftop, a screeching resonated through the air.

"What are those?"

Out of the darkness, beings resembling human embryos, started emerging one by one.

"[Hostile detected. Prepare to engage.]"

Niko braced themselves as the fight was about to start with 3 creatured imbued with darkness. Afterwards, an interesting popup has appeared.

Darkness constricts you... TP Gain reduced outside of ???

Right after Niko entered the Dark World, Player checked Niko stats to see whenever anything changed.

Niko                LV2 Lightbearer

                       Kind soul that lightens

                       the way in the dark.

Attack: 45       0% ACT

Defense: 28    11% SERENE PRAYER

Magic: 58        20% LIGHT BARRIER

Cleansed: 1     25% PRISMATIC GLEAM

?

Guts: & & & & & (&=Flame)

On top of a big stat up upgrade, Niko's HP is now 650. They were curious about "Cleansed: 1" but soon they deduced the result of what happened to Jevil.

Player started with their usual opener by checking the enemy.

>>> [ACT] Titan Spawn

Titan Spawn - 30 ATK 200 DF 3000 HP

A shard of fear. Appears in places of deep dark.

Expose it to LIGHT... and gather COURAGE to gain TP.

Then, "BANISH" it!

"I see, did take a note Niko?"

"Hm!" - Niko nodded affirmatively.

As the creatures started conversing to where SOUL was but the light aura quickly dispatched them.

Next turn, Player a certain skill Niko possessed but didn't get opportunity to use it.

According to the description, "Serene Prayer" gave every enemy "SLEEP" status and also pacifies every enemy that already had a "SLEEP" status. On top of that, apparently they also capable of "banishing weak dark-element foes".

Interesting enough, there is already "BANISH" in the menu but this was much more expensive. Wanting to test it out, Player decided to use that magic skill instead.

>>> [MAGIC] SERENE PRAYER

As Niko closed their eyes and prayed upon the lightbulb, suddenly a crack within clouds has emerged and the light has befallen the Titan Spawn.

They screamed with pain but it didn't take long until they dissipated into nothingness, ending the fight.

Not wanting to waste more time, Player hurried up Niko.

"I don't think we have much time left. Niko run upstars, quickly!"

After Niko eventually reached the rooftop, the Player saw an immobile Queen's mech from earlier however there something else that caught their eye.

"Is that...?"

"[Your eyes are not mistaken. It's that robot from the basement.]"

But as Player and Entity were busy staring at the robot that on the top of a mech,  Niko was staring at someone that was right above them.

"But...Who is...that?" - Niko asked with a shaken voice.

As two of them looked at where Niko was pointing at, a dark figure with crossed them was levitating right above the mech.

Soon it dramatically turned around and out of their palms drew a blade that for a brief moment looked like a bat.

Upon seeing Niko, they maniacally laughed right before creating several swords-like projectiles. Something about them gave Player a bad feeling.

"That shine...Niko! Don't let th-"

Unfortunately, it was too late as the swords went right where the mech was lying and soon it was engulfed by the blue geyser.

Meawhile from somewhere far away, someone noticed and was utterly terrified by the sight.

"No...this cannot be..."

Ralsei upon seeing ity, hurried up as fast as he could to the Queen's Mansion.

Meanwhile, from the blue geyser emerged an enomorous giant made out of darkness, coated with mechanical parts with star-shaped symbol implanted on their face.

The giant pointed their hand toward Niko, then it shapeshifted into a blaster which fired immediately after. Niko created a light barrier in order protect themselves, barely holding up against that enormous power.

"Niko! Are you okay!?" - Player asked as panic could be heard in their voice.

"That was close but I think I'm okay."

"[This must a being called a Titan. Thanks to incorporating the machinery into it's body, by my estimate it's power level was increased substantially.]"

Upon hearing the analysis, Player has come to a decision.

"I think it would be for the best to retreat for now. We need t-

"No, we can't. If we run away now then....The Roaring will happen." - Niko reminded Player.

"(That's right...if Niko runs away, the end of the world may come soon after.)"

After getting smacked by the reality of the situation, Player has become distraught.

Interestingly enough, Niko had still the same expression.

"Aren't you...scared?"

Player wasn't confident whenever defeating Titan was possible even with Niko's stats. Upon hearing the question, Niko shook their head and replied with a firm resolve.

"Of course I am. But...as you as you are with me, I can do anything."

Despite knowing the danger, Niko stood defiantly right before the monstrosity as the battle for the fate of this world was about to commence. Thanks to newly gained courage, they weren't any doubts in Niko's mind regarding what they should do.

As the battle started, Player immediately went to MAGIC menu and checked the Titan.

POWERED TITAN - AT 100 DF 1000 HP  32000

The fear of dark, which appears in many forms, imbued with the power of dark and light.

The Titan Spawn has appeared and begun approaching Niko's position while Titan bombarded them with powerful blaster shots. This terrifying combination didn't allow Niko to remained unscathed.

>>> - 109 HP (541/650 HP)

Thankfully, Player managed to gather enough TP to unleach an attack of their own.

"This? Are you sure?" - Niko asked, uncertain whenever this was a right move.

"I don't see any other way for now."

Normally, they would try find another way but after seeing those creatures they had a doubt whenever that was even an option. It's almost seems like as if they only act on their primal instincts, merely seeking to destroy anything they see.

>>> [MAGIC] PRISMATIC GLEAM

Upon channeling the energy upon the lightbulb, Niko launched a rainbow-colored laser toward the Titan. Despite boasting powerful armament, thanks to the bonus damage against dark-element enemies, Niko managed to deal a decent amount of damage.

>>> - 3240 HP (28760/32000 HP)

Titan enraged, used their giant arms to squish their adversary. Even if it misses, it sends powerful shockwaves around the fists. Despite Player's best efforts, they got caught off guard by the shockwave.

>>> - 58 HP (483/650 HP)

As Entity was watching over the battle, the Entity shared an important information.

"[It appears there are cracks around Titan's face. I suggest attacking same spot again.]"

"Good thinking."

>>> [MAGIC] PRISMATIC GLEAM

This time, Niko didn't hesitate and launched another powerful spell, resulted in creating even crack within star-shaped symbol.

>>> - 3591 HP (25169/32000 HP)

The Titan unleashed a devastating combo. The Titan Spawn alongside dark centipedes were constatly harrasing the SOUL while Titan launches several indigo colored balls which then exploded once they went into the contact with the soul. It went so badly to the point Niko about half of the remaining health.

>>> - 276 HP (206/650 HP)

"Just one more..."

>>> [MAGIC] PRISMATIC GLEAM

>>> - 3334 HP (21835/32000 HP)

After getting by another hit, the Titan violently flinched as the star-shaped symbol crumbled to dust.

"An opening! Niko, finish them off quickly!"

"Got it!"

>>> [MAGIC] PRISMATIC GLEAM

Seeing the opening with the remaining TP, Niko unleashed their final attack.

>>> - 20678 HP (1157/32000 HP)

It was a direct hit! Titan managed to barely hang up. While they may not possess will on their own, they still possessed an instinct of self-preservation.

Suddenly the dark clouds covered the Titan, in attempt to protect them from any harm from outside.

>>> + 10000 HP (11157/32000 HP)

"[Abnormal inlux of dark energy detected. It appears Titan entered some of sort of defense mode. Rapid regeneration and armor up detected.]"

After seeing Titan's HP regenerating, Player told Niko to attack them again. Unfortunately, due to lack of TP Niko had to resort to using a basic attack which merely bounced off Titan's body.

>>> + 10000 HP (21157/32000 HP)

"Unless we have a way to finish them off in one swoop, they will keep regenerating. Damn, we were so close..."

Even if they managed to reach same point, Player wasn't sure that Niko would certainly survive a prolonged fight. As the despair about sink in, Niko managed to came up with an idea.

"Friend, are you listening? I have an idea." - Niko said, blasting away Player's despair in a spectacular fashion.

"You do?"

Niko proceeded to explain their plan to Player and Entity.

"I suppose this could work but would we have enough time?"

"[According to my calculations, if you do it this turn, you would have a chance.]"

Player smiled upon hearing the odds.

"Only a chance, huh? Well, it's better than nothing. I understand, I will leave it to you, Niko."

"Hm!"

As the Titan kept regenerating, Niko focused all their attention upon the lightbulb as the magic started rapidly pouring inside it.

After the Titan revealed it's newly repaired self, Niko unleashed their strongest attack yet, obliterating Titan's face while revealing the opening to the inside.

Then the red SOUL seperated itself from the green SOUL.

"Now!"

With rest of their strength, Niko grabbed red SOUL and threw right into Titan's opening. After a few seconds, the light started emanating from Titan's body, forcing Niko to cover their face with their hand.

After the light dissipated, the Titan disappeared alongside all the darkness that surrounded it. It almost as if there was nothing in the first place.

"We got it? Haaaah..."

Afterwards, Niko crumbled on the ground as if all strength left their body.

"[It was a fine job, you two.]" - The Entity congratulated them.

"Nah, that all thanks to Niko."

"Hehe..." - Niko praised upon hearing the praise.

As the Cyber World became peaceful again, someone came way too late to do anything.

"(Unbelievable...that Lighter singehandedly defeated a Titan...)" - Ralsei said, flabbergasted by the little "cat" person who had an exhausted yet genuine smile.

Even he knew, if the Titan confronted the heroes right now, they would unlikely came up on top. And yet, Niko seemingly did by themselves, thanks to their sheer dedication and will.

"(I cannot understand, that wasn't suppose to happen...What is going on?)"

As Ralsei was pondering while they were going away from the scene, however this time due to his carelessness the Entity noted the presence of the prince.

Meanwhile, in the place darker than dark, someone was looking over the events with an intense curiosity.

"FASCINATING...WHAT AN ODD GROUP..."

Despite all his careful planning, for the first time in a while he was caught off guard due to interference of the being almost as influential as him. While he managed to stop them from gaining valuable intel from places that may "reveal" too much, he knew he couldn't let his guard down as he lacked the means of getting rid of them.

"YOU TRULY WENT BEYOND MY WILDEST PREDICTIONS..."

While some corrections were needed, he deemed this experiment a success. But the result of the confrontation was still unexpected.

"HOWEVER, I MUST DEALT WITH THAT ONE...IF I WANT MY PLANS COME TO FRUITION..."

He said as he was watching Niko who was lying on the ground due to the exhaustion. If there was something he hated the most as a scientist, it would be a feeling of lack of control over the situation.

Notes:

Now done, 2 out of 4!

It took me longer than expected, I had a LOT of ideas in mind on where lead the story.
I think I did an decent job especially with Niko's section.
Thank you for reading and have a great day! :D

Chapter 3: Late Knight

Summary:

During the time, the Player was playing through Chapter 3,
Niko and the Entity came up with a plan most ingenious.

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Shortly after the bizarre excursion in the Cyber World was concluded, The Entity waited until Player logged out for today then they called Niko.

"[Niko. Do you have a moment?]" - The Entity asked.

"Hm? What is it?"

"[If I may be frank, there is a matter that requires our attention.]"

"...Couldn't we just talk about this tomorrow?" - Niko asked as they raised an eyebrow.

"[Well yes, while I wouldn't normally want to interrupt your moment of rest, I'm afraid I may not be able to complete my task without your help.]" - The Entity answered honestly.

Fortunately, thanks to Niko often hanging out with Entity and Player, they were capable of picking up on things rather quickly.

"Oh, is this because of what happened today?"

"[Precisely. If there is one thing that was made obvious tonight, it's that there is a hostile force lurking within.]"

The one who sent that strange darkened figure to summon a Titan, likely also the one responsible for the incident in Queen's basement. Whoever that was, somehow they managed to stay under Entity's radar up until this point which heavily concerned Entity.

"Okay, so what you want me to do?"

"[I want you to confront someone specific.]"

Then on Niko's PC, two screenshots opened up on the desktop on which one of them was someone Niko was familiar with.

"Isn't that one of the heroes? The Prince?" - Niko asked as they made a guess.

"[Correct. He shortly appeared after the battle with the Titan. Also, that time you went to seal the Dark Fountain in the Card Castle, I spotted a silhouette close to your proximity. After an analysis, I determine that it is very likely they are the same person.]"

During to one of their previous meetings from today, the Player shared their notes they made during their Chapter 2 playthrough alongside advicing Entity to observe Ralsei for any suspicious moves. Luckily for them, this time Ralsei wasn't so keen on hiding his presence.

"I see. He must know something more than he lets on." - Niko agreed with Entity's assessment.

However, there was something that bothered Niko since the Entity brought the subject.

"But why do you need me? Wouldn't we also need our friend's help?" - Niko asked a reasonable question to which Entity swiftly answered.

"[Do not worry. Like them, it appears you also possess a SOUL like them so their assistance won't be necessary for this task. As for the launcher, I already took a liberty to install it on your computer.]" - The Entity stated bluntly.

"Is that...so?" - Niko said with an awkward smile.

Despite all this time, Niko still wasn't able to fully keep up with their antics. For a brief moment, Niko understood the Player's burden. Eventually, Niko went back to the topic.

"In other words, you think they are working together?"

"[That has to be yet determined. But it would be for the best if we investigate it sooner than later.]"

After a serious consideration albeit with slight reluctance, Niko decided to lend Entity a hand. Also Entity view this as a good opportunity to see whenever there would any difference if the launcher is opened in Player's PC or Niko's PC. With enough luck, Niko could go undetected for at least some time.

Thus before the nightfall, they concocted a plan that would soon turn things upside down.

Next day, Niko was falling down yet again but unlike the other two times, they managed to perfectly land without a hitch.

After that, Niko left starting area then their yellow eyes glittered in wonder due to what they saw.

"[Looks like we're at the right place. Welcome to the Castle Town, Niko." - The Entity said in a formal tone.

The place was nothing like any Dark World Niko had seen so far, in a way it reminded of them their home village with how tightly the buildings are laid out and by the variety of the inhabitants.

As for the Darkners themselves, some of them did notice a presence of the new visitor.

"Hey, hey. Is that a Lighter?"

"They are kinda cute..."

"I humbly welcome you in our little establishment."

Regardless of the reactions or who it was, whenever it was talking Rudinns or a Swatchling that is sweeping the streets, Niko lively waved at them with a bright smile. Some of them waved back while the others turned their back to hide their flushed faces.

Just like that, Niko easily win over majority of the Darkners.

After following the path, Niko reached the courtyard where they bunch of Darkners and right before the entrance to the castle they saw Ralsei chatting with Royal Coat Rack. Feeling as if someone was behind him, the Prince turned his back to greet them.

"Hello, what...can...I..."

When Ralsei saw Niko before him, it's as if he got petrified by the spell.

"Hello! I hope I didn't just interrupt anything important." - Niko greeted Ralsei while making an awkward smile.

"Oh no, not at all..."

It wasn't difficult for the onlookers to see that between them there was a strangely tense atmosphere.

"Umm, sorry but can you leave us for a moment? We have something to discuss."

Ralsei looked at the Darkners, subtly but firmly suggesting to leave Niko and Ralsei by themselves to which they complied without issue.

After all darkners left, Ralsei called to Niko.

"Can you wait here for a second? I need to prepare something."

"Hm!" - Niko nodded in approval.

After Ralsei went inside the Castle, the Entity has spoken.

"[It appears our visit was unexpected if Prince's reaction is anything to go by.]"

"That's good sign." - Niko said optimistically.

"[I wouldn't be so hasty. There are definitely things he's keeping a secret.]"

Niko hoped that Ralsei didn't had anything to do with the attack from yesterday but Entity suggested to not jump to conclusions for now.

Soon, the door has opened and through the door Ralsei beckoned Niko over.

"Please, come in."

Niko went inside the Castle and entered the main hall. In the middle, there was table with two chairs and a tea set.

"Please take a seat. I prepared some tea for you if you're interested."

"Hm! Thank you for having me."

After Niko took a set on the right side of the table, Ralsei approached the table and took a tea cup and gracefully poured tea into a teacup then gave it to Niko.

The tea had a pinch of sugar alongside a lemon inside.

"*Gulp Hmm! Tasty!" - Niko exclaimed, praising the drink.

"Glad you like it. I practiced a lot during my spare time."

Ralsei sat at the table in silence until Niko's cup became empty.

"My apologies, I believe I didn't introduce myself yet. My name's Ralsei, I'm the ruler of this kingdom. I heard you wanted to see but...I don't think we've ever met." - Ralsei said as he feigned ignorance.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Niko. I'm here on the behalf of my friend!" - Niko stated their purpose in lighthearted tone.

"Your friend?"

"Yes, you know the one you had seen many times, the red heart."

"!!!"

And just like that, Ralsei's pokerface crumbled within seconds. Niko however didn't pay heed to the reaction and continued.

"Mister Ralsei, I'm here to confirm certain things. I would be thankful if you answer honestly."

"....Can I refuse?" - Ralsei asked as his glasses reflection covered his eyes.

"I won't force you if  you don't want to but...I think it would benefit us both if you do accept my request."

Niko from the start didn't want to pressure Ralsei more than they have to. From Niko heard, Ralsei seems to be a nice guy despite holding many secrets so they believed he should be at least given a chance.

Ralsei stared at Niko, as if Niko was being in thoroughly examined. After some time, Ralsei smiled and nodded at Niko.

"I understand. You are a kind person, aren't you Niko? Very well, I will answer whatever I can."

"Hm! Thank you for trusting me." - Niko smiled upon seeing they come to an agreement.

After clearing their mind, Niko started asking questions.

"So, are you conspiring against my friend?" - Niko asked bluntly.

For a moment, Niko felt as if the Entity just facepalmed but Ralsei was unfazed by the question and answered truthfully.

"No. My sole purpose is to fulfill the Prophecy."

"The Prophecy...as in to save the world from the Roaring?"

"Yes, that is correct."

"Hmm...but that sound like as if The Roaring will happen. Is there is no way to stop it all together?"

Upon stating a reasonable observation, Ralsei took off his glasses and cleaned them up.

"From what sound of it, you were told about the Prophecy by your friend, yes? However, there is something I omitted mentioning up to this point."

Ralsei took on his glasses and looked into Niko's eyes.

"The Prophecy is destined to happen, one way or another. It is inevitable." - Ralsei said with a sad smile.

"But...how can this be!?"

Niko wasn't a fan of Ralsei's statement as it unconfortably reminded them way too much of what Jevil said in the past.

"I know everything regarding the Prophecy. All events that will happen now...and all that will happen in the future."

As Ralsei was sadly staring at the ground, Niko was trying to piece some things together.

"There is something I don't understand. When the Roaring happens, the Titans come along with it. But not only I saw a Titan but also I was able to beat them thank to my friend. Does that means the Roaring already started? I mean you must have saw it, right? You have been there."

"Oh, you saw me...well...how to say this..."

Ralsei was trying his hardest to figure out how to explain his thought process.

"I know all about key events but not how they will occur. As for the Titans, I didn't know they could be beaten too. Niko, what you did was...a miracle not like any other."

While Ralsei was absent for the majority of the fight, he got an opportunity to see in full action Niko's powerful magical beam that completely evaporated Titan's face. He was completely shocked by Niko's prowess in that moment.

"So what you are saying, there is a chance?" - Niko asked as their hope was slowly regaining.

"I...honestly don't know..."

Before Ralsei could finish the sentence, suddenly Niko stood up.

"I think understand things a little better. Thank you for your time, Mister Ralsei. I will go now."

As Niko left the Castle and was about to go away, Ralsei quickly caught up to Niko.

"Please wait! I have one thing to ask, if I may." - Ralsei pleaded Niko.

"Yes?"

"Can you please...don't tell anything about what we talked about to Kris and Susie? I won't stop you if tell this to your friend but to them...I believe it would for the best if they won't know this."

Niko pondered about his request. They didn't plan to disclose that information to them, especially to Kris who was doing some suspicious maneuvers behind Player's back. Ultimately, Niko believed while Ralsei asked this to protect his friends in his own way, they thought they will find out about the truth eventually whenever he likes it or not.

"Hm! I promise." - Niko nodded as to indicate they made a promise.

"*Sigh Thank yo-"

As Ralsei was about sighed in relief, suddenly he stood still.

"Is something wrong?"

"New Dark Fountain was opened. I must now go."

Ralsei ran past Niko in a hurry but this time, they stopped Ralsei for a brief moment.

"Ah, one more thing! Are you familiar with someone named Gaster?"

"No, I never heard of them. Should I?" - Ralsei asked back with a genuine confusion on his face.

"It's nothing. You can go now."

Once Ralsei was far enough to not hear Niko anymore, The Entity has spoken.

"[That was incredibly dangerous, Niko. What if he reports our presence to Gaster?]"

Entity tried scolding Niko but they already had response prepared.

"I mean you have seen his reactions. He's a good person, I know it. Besides, we got what we came for."

"[That I cannot deny.]"

After the questioning, the duo determined that Ralsei is unlikely to be involved with "Gaster" or at least whoever that was resposible for the incident in the Cyber World. When The Player told them about the name, they also emphasised that they aren't 100% sure of his involvement here and should take their words with a grant of salt.

Still for Niko, it was a major step forward in regards to solving the mystery resolved around the Prophecy.

Meanwhile, unaware of Niko's and Entity's shenanigans, the Player was about finish Chapter 3 playthrough.

The heroes approached the christmas tree where Tenna was waiting for them. Then he exclaimed with great enthusiasm.

"Audience, would you please stand up and clap for our winners!! For outstanding kindness and bravery, the Lightners have won... THE GRAND PRIZE!!!"

The capsule that was glittered with little stars that at the top of the christmas tree, was slowly coming down. Once it landed it broke away, revealing the figure of Toriel sitting in the chair, wearing a Queen's garb who was slumbering peacefully, blissfully ignorant of what is currently happening.

"Here you go!! She's all yours, folks!! How wonderful!! The family's all together again!! Now you can all finally complete this spectacular, full of twists adventuuure!!!"

As if the curtains were about to come down, Tenna was continuously bowing as if his life depended on it.

Afterwards, the heroes approached Toriel and Susie was waving right before her face but there was no reaction.

"She's is still asleep huh...Will have to ask for the later."

"If you want, I can pacify you if you have trouble sleeping." - Ralsei made a suggestion with a smirk.

"Nah, I will just smack myself with a brick or something. That will knock me out real good."

Susie and Ralsei shared a heathy laugh together as their adventure is about to conclude.

"The Fountain is right up ahead. I will watch over her." - Ralsei said.

"See ya later then. Let's go Kris."

As the Lightners were going, Tenna suddenly called to Susie.

"Susie, I...umm...you see..."

As Tenna was struggling to express his gratitude, Susie turned her head toward him.

"Don't fret it, my guy. We will find you a new home. You have my word."

After reassuring Tenna, Kris and Susie continued walking. But as they about to approach the Dark Fountain, Susie noticed that Kris wasn't right beside her and stated behind.

"Kris, are you good?"

Kris was staring absentmindedly from afar, as if awaiting something. But no matter how much time has passed....nobody came.

Afterwards, they signed and soon went to where Susie was.

"What was that all about?" - Player asked themselves as if they couldn't get the point of that scene.

As Kris approached Susie, they both were staring at the Fountain right before them.

"...

The Knight...

...

The Roaring Knight...

...

The one who's making the dark.

The one who's trying to destroy the world...

Just, why they are doing this...

Creating those fountains...

Up until today...

It felt kind of like no matter how serious our adventures got...

They were just part of another world.

...

But now...Toriel was involved...

If we hadn't been here...

She could get seriously hurt...

...

Kris, we need to get to the bottom of this...

For Toriel's sake, for Ralsei's sake and for our sake.

Kris slowly approached the fountain just like the other times, the red SOUL manifested itself and floated toward the fountain. As the screen went white, the credits rolled at last.

"That's it? Huh..."

While Player welcomed that change of pace, especially after that insane cliffhanger from Chapter 2, they felt as if something was missing here. On top it, they weren't able to locate Shadow Crystal despite completing the side quest in S-Rank Room.

"Well, I can ask the Entity to investigate I suppose."

As Player was stretching after a their gaming session, it was only much later, Player came to understand that they really should have put more faith into their gut feeling.

Today was a rather lively crowd within Party Dojo and that was all thanks to a newcomer that graced them with a visit.

"Are you ready for the expanded training course!?" - Jigsaw Joe asks Niko.

"Hm! I'm ready."

After Ralsei left, Niko decided to hang out in the Castle Town for a while longer. The Entity was initially opposed to the idea but eventually while making cute eyes, Entity didn't had any choice but to comply.

During the conversation with Jigsaw Joe, once Niko disclosed that they have no idea how to FIGHT (Most of the time, they were doing exactly what Player suggested), his jaw went so low that it almost like it about to fall off.

And here they are, currently facing against the duo of Clover and Tasque Manager in the ring.

"LISTEN UP!!! Your goal to use every single action and ability at your disposal at least once. If you manage to do that without your HP going down to 0, you win!"

After Niko was informed about their objective, they could finally decide on their first move.

"[Remember to stay calm. You don't have to rush.]"

Before the fight, Niko was suggested to give the stat sheet a proper look.

Niko                LV3 Lightbearer

                       Kind soul that lightens

                       the way in the dark.

Attack: 59       0% ACT

Defense: 36    11% SERENE PRAYER

Magic: 70        20% LIGHT BARRIER

Cleansed: 5     25% PRISMATIC GLEAM

?

Guts: & & & & & (&=Flame)

The Entity noticed how with each visit to the Dark World Niko's growth is getting more exponential to the point Niko has even 800 HP. The reason for behind this, still eludes Entity to this day.

For the first action, Niko checked the three-headed Darkner.

Clover - ATK 11 2 DF 1500 HP

Two heads are better than one! Three... maybe not.

"Let's have a good fight! I will destroy you! Umm...she meant well, I promise."

"Time for your evaluation!"

Clover launched several 3-way spread of bullets while Tasque Manager was trying to pin Niko with her whip. Thanks to Niko's high defense, the attacks didn't do much by themselves but their attempts at dodging were rather sloppy.

>>> - 29 HP (771/800 HP)

To defend against the onslaught, Niko created a defensive barrier around green SOUL.

>>> [MAGIC] LIGHT BARRIER

Thanks to the magical bubble, the duo were ineffective. While it doesn't have infinite durability, the attacks weren't strong to leave a scratch.

"Ooooh!"

The crowd was impressed by Niko's powerful spell.

>>> [MAGIC] SERENE PRAYER

Next up, Niko prayed upon the lightbulb, unlike with the Titan Spawn, the soothing light merely put normal Darkners into a blissful slumber.

>>> +100% >>> +100%

Clover and Tasque Manager were incapable of defending against it and fell down to the floor.

Normally, Niko could already spared them but the point of this exercise to use every available action which includes...less peaceful methods.

"I don't know, are you sure this is a good idea?" - Niko asked.

"ABSOLUTELY! You have to know how to defend yourself. No worries, they will be no major injuries." - Jigsaw Joe replied.

>>> [ATTACK] Clover

Niko with reluctance, threw the lighbulb right into Clover. The throw was so powerful it sended Clover flying to the opposite side of the Dojo.

The lighbulb itself work like a boomerang, returning to Niko once it knocked out Clover in one hit.

>>> - 1877 HP (0/1500)

"*GASP"

The audience was completely stunned upon seeing Niko's strength.

"[What an unpredictable result.]" - The Entity stated sarcastically.

During their investigation, the Entity spent some of their studying the nature of the Dark World. One of the things they learned apparently all Lighters receive a passive enhancement to their physical characteristics, making then much stronger and nimbler than in the Light World. Also stats have a great influence on the boost.

Meanwhile, someone in the crowd has a great time of her life.

"Hohoho! What An Incredible Throw! They Would Make For A Great Pitcher! (Not As Good As I Am Though)

Niko turned their attention toward the one with a snobby-like voice. During their stay in the Castle Town, Niko got an opportunity to get acquainted with a Darkner named "Queen".

She introduces herself as Lancer's "girldad" which perplexed Niko. Does she have any relations with the "Lesser Dad"? Apparently, both Lancer and "Lesser Dad" are with Kris which is why they weren't anywhere in this Dark World.

"Just one more time and you will be done!" - Jigsaw Joe announced to excite the audience.

Well, they say better save the best for last.

>>> [MAGIC] PRISMATIC GLEAM

Thankfully, Niko was the most proficent with this spell so they were able to adjust the power level.

Despite that, Tasque Manager was still send flying to where Clover was.

When the battle was concluded, the crowd cheered with great enthusiasm upon Niko's performance.

Niko hurried up to where Clover and Tasque Managers were, who just woke up.

"I'm sorry. I hope it didn't hurt too much."

As Niko tried to apologize, the duo merely shrugged it off.

"There is nothing to apologize, dear. Most importantly, you accomplished your task perfectly."

"We're okay." "Say for yourself. Next time, I'm kicking your ass." "C'mon sisters, don't fight..."

Upon seeing Clover's heads bumping into each other, Niko laughed infectiously which then the duo soon followed.

Afterward, Niko stood alone before the entrance to the castle with a newly gained shiny pin on their coat, looking over the town.

"It's a really nice place."

After the Player described this place, Niko always to visit it at some point.

During the stay, they came to appreciate a lot. Whenever it's quirky yet lovable denizens, it's yummy topcakes or cookies or elegant bar with exceptional service. There is something about the Town that struck Niko right into their heart.

"It shouldn't be long before Ralsei returns."

"[According to my calculations, it should be a matter of time.]"

Suddenly, Niko's sixth sense kicked in which made Niko weary of surroundings.

"Something's coming..."

Before Entity could respond, Niko quickly raised the barrier and soon after a barrage of swords, rained from sky to where Niko was.

Once the shield dropped, the assailant went for a quick kill but Niko anticipated that move and within mere second, a loud clash resonated within the courtyard.

As they were blocking the blade with the lightbulb, Niko took a good look at their assailant and it was none other than the Knight figure from yesterday.

"I'm glad it worked out..." - Niko stated with a mischievous grin.

"[Wait, you PLANNED this all along!?]" - The Entity exclaimed as if they were about to scream.

As the Knight was about attempt to break the deadlock, Niko did a flying spin kick, pushing away the Knight with an incredible force.

The Knight was completely caught by surprise and while they managed to block the kick with blade, the move was so strong it knocked a large chip off their blade.

From the outside perspective, it may look unbelievable for an 10 years old kid to made an armored opponent flinch like that but in the Dark World not everything was as it seems at the first glance.

As the battle was about to escalate, a yell could be heard from the distance.

"Niko!"

Niko briefly glanced and saw Ralsei running towards them. However after the Knight saw the Prince, they immediately turned into a ball and were about to flee the scene.

"No, I cannot let them escape!"

As Niko about to give chase, The Entity has spoken.

"Niko, there is a Shadow Crystal lying on the ground. Take it away before you go."

"Hm!"

There was no time to talk and Niko quickly grabbed the sharp and sprinted toward the exit.

"Niko! What's going on!? Was that...?"

"Sorry Mister Ralsei. I have to go now."

Niko ran past Ralsei while ignoring all shouts from behind.

After returning back to Light World, Niko quickly left the school. With a glimpse of an eye, they saw a shadow figure going south.

As Niko was chasing after the figure, they were further south of the Hometown. It wasn't long before Niko could see a smoke coming from a structure in the distance.

Soon, Niko reached the destination but the figure was nowhere to be seen. As Niko was about go to other side, the entrance loudly shutted by themselves.

"*Huff *Huff Did you see that?"

"[Correct. There is indeed another Dark Fountain inside. Moreover after a quick scan, I found there something hidden on the right.]"

Niko approached the designated place and did a few knocks caused a plate to fall down.

"[It appears to be some kind of code panel. Unfortunately, it looks there are three series of codes required for the entry.]"

Right now, the Entity determined it may require some time before they could break the code.

"At least, we won't go away empty-handed." - Niko said as they looked at the glass in their hand.

"[Curious, Shadow Crystal and the Knight's blade are made out of the same material.]"

Thanks to their efforts during the joint escapade, they found a lot of useful information.

Meanwhile, outside of Kris's house a dutiful police officer appeared on the scene.

"Ugh...Who the heck would want slash someone's tires this late at night?" - Undyne muttered with annoyance.

Right before she was about end her shift, Undyne received a phone call from the Dreemur's household reporting about the odd incident.

As much as liked her job, it didn't mean she wanted to overwork herself to death. Luckily for her, due to the actions of certain someone,  she managed to avoid a grim fate that would otherwise always occur.

For someone, it was a win. For others, it was beginning of the giant source of headaches.

Notes:

One more remaining...at least for now.

I honestly have no idea how next chapter is going to look like. I have a gist of it sure but oh boy, it's going to be doozy.
Well I will do what I can to stick the landing. Won't be surprised if writing the chapter is going to take a bit longer than previous ones.
Regardless, thank you for reading I wish all of you to have a great day. :)

Chapter Text

Later this evening, the meeting has begun as scheduled. But like the other ones in the past days, they wouldn't be so peaceful.

"You did WHAT!?" - The Player exclaimed in disbelief after hearing about Niko's recent "trip".

"[Please hear me out, there is a good explanation fo-]"

"I don't want to hear your excuses! Niko, what was that all about?" - Player redirected the conversation toward Niko.

"I only took a calculated risk. What matters is it worked at the end!" - Niko replied with a bright smile, unfazed by the current predicament.

"Without telling me!? What if- *Sigh"

Normally, Player would been proud of Niko's growth and their newly gained confidence, it turns out Niko was giving them a different kind of headache, comparing to Entity's usual shenanigans.

"...You don't trust me?" - Niko asked, who made a face as if they were about to cry.

"I do, I really do but that's different okay? It's one thing to do something risky and another to put yourself in danger without anyone's knowledge."

"So you have faith in me. That's a relief." - Niko replied as smile was back on their face, making it seem as if their previous expression was merely a fever dream.

As Niko declared another victory inside, the Entity attempted to change topic.

"[I believe we should go back to the subject at hand.]"

"Fine but remember, I will reprimand you later." - Player declared to Entity, not willing to let the matter slide completely.

The trio went back to discussing their today's findings. Eventually, the matter of the Knight was brought.

"So, in short Niko met the dark figure from before, fought them off and then Niko chased after them to where the Shelter was in the Light World?"

"[Correct. I also determined they are very likely "The Roaring Knight" that has been mentioned in the past.]"

After analyzing Knight's previous actions, Entity spotted a correlation between their way of creating a Titan and Kris's creation of the Dark Fountain which make connecting the dots much more simpler.

"Okay but I don't get why did they strike at that moment. Niko was in the Castle Town for a while, wouldn't make more sense for the Knight to attack Niko right after Ralsei left?"

While Player was puzzled by the Knight's behaviour, Niko brought up a potential answer.

"I know! It's because I mentioned name "Gaster" to Ralsei."

As Player heard that name, their brows furrowed.

"Niko...I told you I wasn't sure if he was even involved. Besides, what was even the point of asking him that?"

"Honestly, I wanted to get a reaction out of him. Considering the timing of the attack, it's rather obvious that Mister Ralsei is innocent!"

After hearing Niko's logic, Player still not fully convinced, asked for Entity's input.

"Thoughts on that?"

"[I largery agree with Niko's assessment. While it is undeniable he held some secrets, it is unlikely they are allied with each other.]"

Shortly after the session was concluded, Entity was investigating and found out the time frame between Ralsei leaving Castle Town and joining the heroes was mere seconds as such Entity found it unplausable for him to have time to report the situation to Gaster. Upon hearing out Entity's view, Player folded and decided to put faith in their words.

"Alright, if that's what you two are saying."

Once that topic was out of the way, the trio were figuring out what to do tomorrow.

"So Shelter huh...three set of codes and the location where the Knight is currently hiding...any ideas?" - Player asked their companions as they were seemingly deeply pondering.

"[I would like to get more time in order to investigate the matter.]"

"Sorry, nothing comes to mind." - Niko replied with sad smile.

"Understood. Still I thank you for your helping me out. Let's meet up tomorrow at the usual time, okay?"

As the meeting was about to reach it's end, suddenly Niko barged in with the last minute question.

"Waiiiit! Sorry friend I forgot to ask. Did you find the Shadow Crystal?"

"Well, remember when I mentioned doing that spooky minigame in that S-Rank Room which I thought it was related to Shadow Crystals? I DID get something out of it but there were no sight of Shadow Crystals."

Then after hearing that, Niko brought something out of their desk.

"Take look at this!" - Niko exclaimed as they eagerly presented a shard of glass.

"...It's a shard of glass. What about it?"

"[Correction. It is not a mere glass.]"

Confused, Player squinted their eyes and took a closer look. Soon, their eyes widened in disbelief.

"Niko...where did you find this?"

"When I got attacked, I kicked the Knight's blade really hard, to the point a chunk of it fell off to the ground."

After Niko managed to go back to their own world, they noticed a strange looking glass in their hands. The Entity told them that somehow Shadow Crystal managed to be transported alongside Niko.

"Entity...I believe there is a need for some more explaining..."

"[...I have no excuse.]" - Entity replied, deeply ashamed that they managed to overlook mentioning a rather important detail.

As Player's scolding intensified, the moon was already visible in the sky.

After Niko left them to their own devices, Player asked about certain thing.

"By the way...how is the recovery of the Vessel coming along?"

Next day, before the next meeting Niko was spending their day in bliss. Hanging out with their friends, going for a walk and even basking in the sun.

As the lunch time was soon approaching, Niko managed to go back home at the right time.

"Mama! I'm home!"

"Welcome back, sweete. Did you have fun?" - Niko's mom asked.

"Hm!"

Niko's mom nodded along with a smile, soon after she brought an envelope and handed over to Niko.

"For me?"

"It would better if you read it yourself."

Confused about her words, Niko opened the envelope and read letter in peace. As time was going by, Niko's face went through variety of astonished expressions.

"Papa is visiting us tommorow!?" - Niko exclaimed in shock.

"I called him yesterday and he said he managed to find time."

Due to anxiety, Niko hastily grabbed their head.

"Ouuh but I wasn't prepared for this! What about a gift or where we could go and...an-"

Suddenly, Niko felt a touch on their head then they saw Niko's mom patting them with a smile.

"I'm sure Papa will be happy with you just being here."

It was a rather unique reaction coming from Niko as it's been a while since Niko was concerned with their father's visit. Still if it wasn't for that talk from another day, Niko's mom may never had a courage to call for him.

"Still, I have to prepare something!"

Upon reading the letter, Niko was running toward their room.

"Just Don't forget about the lunch in half of hour from now on, sweete!"

"Hm!" - Niko nodded right before they went on their way.

Eventually, Niko reached their room and went to their desk. Then, out of nowhere Niko's PC went on and a familiar voice has spoken.

"[Good day Niko. I see you are in high spirits today.]" - The Entity said.

Entity planned to share some details with Niko about their next course of action but Niko was occupied with searching their desk.

"Papa is coming home, I want to do something for him." - Niko replied as they were in the middle of searching the desk and taking out items.

"[Is that so? You never mentioned you have a father.]"

Suddenly Niko stopped moving and looked at the monitor.

"He is usually very busy but this is an opportunity to spend time with him."

As awkward silence was lingering in the air, Entity took a chance to break the ice.

"[I never had someone I could call a parent. Technically, my creator would be eligible for this moniker but even now I do not feel the existence of such connection.]"

After getting "tamed" by Niko and Player, Entity was capable of feeling all sort of emotions they never knew they had. Despite that, the concept of parenthood was incomprehensible from their point of view.

Niko, hearing Entity's confession attempted to enlighten their virtual friend with their own perspective.

"For me...parent is someone that coddle you when you are sad, someone that prepares yummy food, someone that will sing you a lullaby when you can't go asleep and also..."

Niko looked at the photo on their desk with Niko and their mother.

"...Someone that will be there for you when you need it the most..." - Niko ended the sentence while having a solemn expression.

"[I see. While I do not fully understand the concept of the family, it does appear they are very dear to you.]"

After this exchange, Entity came to a realization that they interrupted Niko in middle of something incredibly important as such they decided to not bother then any longer.

"[My apologies for taking your time. I will go back to finish the preparations.]"

"Hm. See you later."

After Niko's PC went off, only the sounds of drawing shelves could be heard in Niko's room.

The evening finally came, the trio were fully determined to accomplish their goals for today.

After Niko was successfully transported to the Hometown, they opened their eyes and was greeted with a sight of metallic red doors. Niko was standing right they left off yesterday but unlike that time, a ray a sunshine was illuminating the surroundings.

"Let's not waste our time. Where to?" - Niko asked the Entity, who was watching over them.

"[Go forward until you read first crossroad, then go left until you reach police station.]"

Niko was tasked to find out about the codes to the Shelter. The Entity theorized that the Shelter was likely meant to be open in case of emergencies and each set of code was in the possession of important members of the community.

To Niko's luck, one of those figures was standing in the middle of the crossroads, seemingly absent minded. Surprisingly, there was no traffic today.

"Excuse me officer, can I bother you for a moment?" - Niko asked Undyne, who up this point was uncharacteristically quiet.

"...Huh? What do you want, kid?" - Undyne asked impatiently, making clear she was not in the mood for a conversation.

"W-well, umm...do you know something about the codes to the Shelter?"

Undyne was left dumbfounded as that question brought her back to reality, eventually she burst out of frustration.

"The hell are you talking for about!? This is no place to fool around!"

"I'm sorry I'm sorry! I was just told Shelter was good place to hide when playing Hide-And-Seek." - Niko profusely apologized while lying about their reason for asking.

"Look, that place is not a place for kids like you. Understood!?"

"Hm! Loud and clear." - Niko vigorously nodded as they were intimidated by the fish monster.

As Niko was about to walk away, Undyne suddenly yelled from their back.

"Wait a moment!"

"...Yes?" - Niko replied as they turned around.

"...I've never seen your face around here, kid. Where are your parents?"

Niko was startled by the unexpected question. Niko hadn't realized that a stranger that has been walking around asking for codes may be deemed suspicious by some people.

"My parents are busy settling in new home and they told me to get familiar with the town."

Undyne was staring intensely for a second before suddenly her expression softened.

"Oh, is that right? You are in luck, tomorrow is going a festival. I recommend going with your family, I guarantee you will have a blast!" - Undyne stated proudly, happy with little community the citizens has built over time.

"Hm! I will. Thank you for your advice, officer."

Once Niko was far away enough, Undyne returned to pondering about a certain case that happened last night.

That incident couldn't left her mind, especially after reporting this to the Mayor who oddly enough brushed it off immediately and told her to drop the case as it was likely merely a "prank". Funny enough, there was a kernel of truth within that statement but Undyne was completely unaware to that fact. On top of that during investigation, she noticed the door to Dreemurr's house was left open.

Thankfully, it appears no one got hurt and she even made an extra effort to visit them this morning to check on them. Despite this, her instinct was telling her something off but unfortunately no ideas came to her as to why this is the case.

Meanwhile, at the little Church a church service was about to be concluded.

When Kris and Susie left the main hall, a phone rang in Kris's pockets. Kris then came closer to Susie and whispered something to her.

"You want me to wait outside? Sure, I don't mind." - Susie responded, unsuspecting of Kris's intentions.

After she left the building, Kris went to the storage room. As no one was inside, Kris forcibly took red SOUL out of their body and threw inside the wardrobe then trudged away from the room.

"They did it again..."

The Player got used to Kris's antics, however they are certain Kris is up to no good. They used to this opportunity to send the message to Niko and Entity in inform them about this.

The plan was for them to play the Chapter while Niko was looking for the codes. They hoped that it splits their adversary's attention and impeded them on making a move. Entity planned to establish a tight line of communication but unfortunately, someone or something was obstructing the signal which forced Entity to figure out an alternative solution. Instead, they opted to be an intermediary between Player and Niko during the session. Still, there was a risk of getting compromised so Entity warned them to not overuse it.

Minute later, Kris was back and stuffed the SOUL into their body. After regaining control, the first thing Player wanted to check is the phone.

"Yep. It's all gone..."

All records and phone numbers were removed including Toriel's number. Whoever was calling, it was clear Kris didn't want Player to find out who it was.

Afterwards, Kris left the Church.

"Finally, I thought you are stuck in closet or something." - Susie jokingly said.

"Now that's out of the way, how about we go to see how Ralsei is doing? Or we can just walk around, your call really. In the meantime, we can look for a new home for Tenna."

Thanks to her adventures in the Dark World, Susie came to appreciate of the idea of just hanging your friends. Prior to this, she didn't had an opportunity to experience such a thing very often which makes it much more valuable than some people may think.

For Kris however, that was a good way to divert her and Player's attention from the Church.

"[Niko, I received a message.]"

Niko was sitting at the bench at the cemetery, awaiting the moment when Kris and Susie leaves the Church. Another thing the trio decided is to avoid Niko bumping into Kris and Susie for the time being. With uncertainly regarding to Kris's allegiance they thought things would get messy if the meeting end up happening.

"What do they say?"

"["Kris left me in the wardrobe after they received a phone call. Avoid meet-up at all cost." End Quote.]" - Entity recited the message.

"Really suspicious. Do they don't want for friend to know who was calling them?"

"[It seems likely to be the case. And odds are, they may be in cahoots with our enemy.]"

As they would latter find out, the precaution was absolutely warranted.

Upon checking that Kris and Susie were no longer around the Church, NIko went inside to look for the codes. One of the symbols was "Deltarune" which is heavily associated with the religion that is being worshipped by the townsfolk.

And what is better place to look but a center of the faith?

As Kris and Susie were about to pass Undyne, they were suddenly called by the police officer.

"Now wait a moment, punks!"

"What? We're minding our own business." - Susie rudely replied.

"Now watch you- *Sigh  Whatever. I just want to know how are you kids doing." - Undyne said as she calmed herself in middle of the sentence.

"I mean, didn't you already visit Kris's house today?"

Once morning came, someone was knocking to the door which turned out it was Undyne who was checking on them.

"Alright, looks like you two doing well. To be honest with you...I have a favour to ask."

Kris and Susie looked at each other before Susie made a reply.

"If it's looking for the culprit, isn't that supposed to be your job?"

Strandely enough instead of shouting, Undyne awkwardly looked at side as she was ignoring Susie's rude attitude.

"I want you two to look for someone for me. A new kid just move in to this town. There may be someone dangerous out there, it would be for the best if they won't wander around without supervision."

Undyne silently cursed herself due to not warning Niko when they first met.

"Okay but you know we have our own things to do, right?" - Susie replied, making clear with her tone that she didn't sign up for babysitting duty.

"Look, I'm just saying if you bump into them. tell them to go back home. The kid has a brown hat with a light blue scarf. You won't miss them. Get it?"

"Yeah yeah, whatever. We will pass the message." - Susie half-heartedly replied.

While her relationship with authority isn't exactly the best, she did kept officer's request in mind. Although, their first meeting is destined to happen in the last place she ever expected to find them.

After Niko searched Church to no avail, they were going toward the school. Fortunately for them, Undyne already went back to police station.

"[Niko, I can just teleport later the Shadow Crystal to Kris's inventory like last time. We should really stick to our objective.]"

"Trust me, It will take a moment." - Niko replied, reassuring the Entity with confident tone.

Unlike the other two symbols, "Pine Tree" was much more abstract which came with certain difficulties in deciphering the meaning. As such, while Entity is figuring out the mystery Niko came up with an idea to go on a little "sidequest."

Since it was a weekend, there was no one inside the School which made a great opportunity for Niko to sneak in. As they eventually reached the closet, Niko opened the door and fearlessly jumped into the void.

As Niko entered the Castle Town, they could heard a funky music coming out of the cafe. They looked around and noticed the place got bigger since last time. Conveniently, Kris and Susie was nowhere to be seen thus it should be an easy enough job to move in and out once the business is settled.

During the walk, Niko was waving toward Darkners who happily greeted them, both old and new until they reach the Seam's Shop.

"Well, well. What do we have here, the Lightbringer has come to visit my humble shop."

"Hehe...I don't think I did anything to deserve such a nickname." - Niko replied as they were scratching their head out of embarassment.

The two of them got opportunity to get acquainted during Niko's first visit to Castle Town but at the time Niko was completely unaware of real importance of the shopkeeper who was giving them a cup of tea.

"On the contrary, you made quite a name for yourself."

Due Niko's stay in Castle Town, Seam heard a lot of intriguing things regarding

Suddenly, Seam had a stern look.

"But...something tells me you're not here only for a chit-chat."

"Hm!" - Niko nodded as to confirm Seam's suspicion.

Niko took the Shadow Crystal out of their pocket and put it on the desk.

"Shadow Crystal...so the rumour was true after all."

"A rumour?"

"I heard there was a fight in the courtyard. A dark figure was clashing with someone wearing a white coat and a black scarf. Coincidentally, it happens one of those silhouettes matches your description."

"Well, I did fought the Knight but it was very brief and it happens Shadow Crystal came out their blade."

Niko tried to downplay the whole situation but Seam wasn't buying their explanation.

"Incredible...You should be more proud of yourself. Fighting off the Knight is no small feat. You are much more powerful than you realize."

Niko briefly looked at their hands, somewhat perplexed on how their little hands are capable of having such an immense power.

"I've been told that a lot."

After Seam took away Shadow Crystal for the safekeeping, Niko asked a following question.

"There is one more thing I wanted to ask. I heard that Jevil told you something about the Prophecy. Can you share it with me?"

"Hmm...Truth be told, I don't think I know more than my former colleague did. Still..."

Seam was staring in silence at Niko for a bit before they spoke again.

"Tell me...Why did you get yourself involved?"

"Huh?" - Niko exclaimed, completely caught off guard.

"You're not a hero of prophecy and moreover...since you asked me that question, you must be aware to some extent about the truth regarding the Prophecy. And yet, here you are. Going through brick road and expect it will lead you somewhere else."

Niko closed their eyes as they grabbed the shiny pin on their overcoat.

"At first, I did it because I wanted to go adventuring with my friend but now I'm here with a different goal in mind."

Niko began to recollect some of the past.

"When I was traveling through a dying world, there were two options. Either I go home but the world would end or I save the world but I won't be able to go back home."

Niko vividly remembers that time they were at the top of the tower and their terrified expression upon finding out the horrible truth.

"...What did you do?"

Upon hearing the question, Niko opened their eyes and smiled.

"It's simple. I've chosen neither."

Seam squinted their eyes as they couldn't get what Niko was trying to say.

Niko tighten their grip around the shiny pin.

"My friend wasn't satisfied with the outcome and so I was back where it all began but this time...it was different. Thank to their sheer determination, they managed to do something no one including me thought was possible. Not only I returned home but the world was saved too."

Then, Niko glared Seam with their burning yellow eyes as if it came straight out of the sun.

"I don't care what kind of tragedy is "destined" to happen. Neither my friends or me won't let this happen. Not to Lightners, not to Darkners, not to Ralsei...and not to you."

Upon hearing Niko's speech which seemingly was a declaration of war against the fate itself, Seam's expression turned into smile but unlike the other times, their smile was full of life. Seam couldn't help but to be impressed by the small figure before them who defiantly stood in a way of the the fate.

"Hahaha! Fascinating...You seem to be much more experienced than I had realized. If you didn't know any better, I thought you went crazy just like Jevil. Well...with you and the heroes...perhaps there is a light in the tunnel after all."

As Niko was about to leave the shop, Seam stopped then for a second.

"By the way, make sure to not lost that shiny pin of yours. Something tells me...it will come in handy."

"Hm." - Niko stoically nodded.

After Niko went outside, Entity started speaking.

"[Niko, are you okay?]"

"Hm. Sorry for being overly emotional. I guess I wanted let go of my feelings."

"[On the contrary, that was a great speech.]"

"...You think so?"

"[Absolutely. I'm sure they would also agree as well if they heard it.]" - Entity replied, referring to the Player.

The life tends to often give many binary choices with their own pros and cons. However for Niko, letting themselves entangled by such a thing wasn't something they were interested in.

With the newfound power and friends by their side, Niko was ready to do go above beyond to attain a happy ending for everyone involved regardless whenever it's here or in their own world.

After the heroes left the castle, Kris suddenly stopped moving. Susie noticed Niko who was preparing to leave the Dark World.

"Wait, have we see that one before?"

Niko slightly fidgeted and slowly turned around upon hearing Susie's voice.

While they were awkwardly staring at each other, Entity has spoken in Niko's head.

"[Niko, I happened to receive a message. It states: "Seriously guys???" End Quote.]"

Susie attempted to break that impending silence.

"...What's up with the silence?"

As if the prayers were answered, a quirky duo has come to the rescue.

"Look At That Lancer. The Kitty Pie Is Back."

"I see, I see!"

Queen and Lancer sprinted past the heroes to greet their favourite "cat" person.

"Ah...umm, hello you two."

"Hey! Why didn't say anything about you going to visit yesterday?" - Lancer exaggeratedly pointed at Niko.

"...What?"

"When I Told Him You Were Kicking Ass, He Got Incredibly Jealous."

When Lancer came back TV World, Queen excitedly told him about a fun time when Niko was around to which he was bummed he missed out.

"Well, you see Lancer...It's just happened this way." - Niko scratched their head, unable to come up with proper explanation.

Niko recalled that time they decided to stay on a gut feeling, thankfully Lancer wasn't planning to pursue the matter further.

"Nah, it's okay. What matters is you are here. How about we catch up right now?"

"I don't know...I'm kinda busy right now..."

Niko attempted to excuse themselves but Lancer already had an idea in mind.

"Don't worry kitty pie, it will take a second!"

Lancer approached Niko and "kindly" pushed them to place where Dojo was.

"Wha- I can go by myse..." - Niko's voice started to fade away with distance.

"Oh Boy, I Better Not Be Left Behind. (Toodles!)"

Queen hurried toward them, leaving the heroes stunned upon seeing their exchange.

Left on their own, Susie asked a question to the prince.

"Ralsei? Do you have a sec?"

"...Yes Susie?" - Ralsei replied with nervousness clearly shown on his face.

"That kid...That one is a Lightner...right?"

"Yes, that is correct. It would be for the best...if we follow them."

"Hm...Alright."

While Susie still had more questions, she quickly figured that Ralsei wanted Niko to explain the situation themselves.

Meanwhile, the Player pondered why did Niko came to Castle Town, until some

"(Wait, it that why...)"

Player recalled that Niko had a Shadow Crystal, upon that realization their brows furrowed. This would serve as valuable lesson in regards to communicating their future plans.

When the heroes went inside the place that was turned into "Love Dojo", Jigsaw Joe immediately took a note of their arrival.

"Oh, sorry boss. We are in a middle of something, can you wait for a moment?"

Seeing the ring already set up, Susie had a bad feeling.

"Hold up, the kid is going to actually fight?"

"You will see in a second."

Puzzled by Jigsaw Joe's response, the heroes looked at each other and shrugged off. Soon afterwards, they took a place in the audience that was already densely populated by the Darkners which added to the mystery behind the newcomer.

Before the fight was about to commence, Niko checked out their stat screen and found something intriguing.

Niko                LV4 Lightbearer

                       Kind soul that lightens

                       the way in the dark.

Attack: 75       0% ACT

Defense: 50    11% SERENE PRAYER 25% PRISMATIC GLEAM

Magic: 88        15% SUN'S BLESSING

Cleansed: 5     20% LIGHT BARRIER

Fate Defied - 1

Guts: & & & & & (&=Flame)

Besides the newly gained ability, Niko's eyes almost immediately wandered toward the new statistic: "Fate Defied - 1". Unfortunately, Niko didn't had an opportunity to think about it too hard as Jigsaw Joe brought Niko back to reality.

"I see you have a new ability! How about you test on this...uh..."charming" duo."

"Ah...Hm."

Suddenly, smoke appeared out of thin air. Something was shinning in two places then it dissipated, showing off two silhouettes wearing glasses.

"Look at that, dewdrop. Do you see what I see?" "I do, mi amore. What a cutie pie." - The duo said as they took off their glassess.

They had outfits and staffs with matching colors, Niko saw them for the first time while for the Player they were all too familiar. It was none other than the Weather Duo, Lanino and Elnina.

"Umm, nice to meet you too..." - Niko shyly replied, bit overwhelmed by their fabulous disposition.

"Don't be shy, little friend." "Just relax and let us take the lead."

They were already filled in by Jigsaw Joe regarding to the point of this mock battle, as such they wanted to make sure Niko feel confident.

As the battle started, the duo immediately send a mixture of sun and moon projectiles. At first, Niko was surprised due to not getting the first move but thanks to their accumulated experience in Dark World, they managed to quickly adapt and dodged all of it with ease.

"Now that you gathered TP, use new ability on yourself!"

Already being used to listening to instructions, Niko obliged.

>>> [MAGIC] SUN'S BLESSING

A shining aurora enveloped Niko, enlightening inside the building which made audience gasp with awe.

"Not bad, still not good as mine." "Oh my! What an iluminating presence."

After stating their different impressions, the duo immediately brought back the glasses and were preparing to attack.

"Tonight's weather is..." "Tonight's weather is..."

"Drop." "Moisturous drop."

Once the sound of staves touching ringed, a mass of raindrops were encroaching Niko's position. However, thanks to the applied buff, Niko's SOUL was moving so fast, it looked as if Niko was creating afterimages while accumulating a lot of TP.

As Jigsaw Joe was about to give additional instructions, he noticed something was missing.

"Next, use it on...oh, right. You don't seem to have a partner."

"Now this can't do." "Find a partner, post haste!"

Before Niko could make a decision, someone jumped into the ring.

Niko looked at the figure and it was a purple dragon, barging with no care in the world.

"'Sup nerds. Got little tired of standing around. Hey, you."

"Yes!?" - Niko asked loudly, intimidated by Susie.

"What are you staring at? Do your thing or whatever."

"Hm! Understood."

>>> [MAGIC] SUN'S BLESSING >> SUSIE

Once the buff was applied, Susie felt an sudden surge, almost overwhelming energy coming inside her. For this moment, she felt as if she was on top of the world.

As Lanino and Elnina launched their attack, Susie channeled her newfound power unto her Axe.

She launched a never seen "Rude Buster", emanated in rainbow. Once it clashed with enemy bullets, completely evaporating in close proximity while sending a shockwave was so strong, it completely destroyed the cloud and moon that was sending projectiles.

The audience gasped after witnessing Susie's power. However, someone else in the gallery was thrilled by her performance.

"Susie, that was amazing!" - Ralsei said with glittering eyes.

"Heh, I was just warning up." - Susie replied, pretending to not care about the compliment.

"Good job, you two. Let's call it off fo-"

"Hold on. Ralsei, come here for a sec."

"Erm, okay."

Confused by Susie's actions, Ralsei come into the ring. Then, Susie jumped off to where Kris was standing and yelled to Niko.

"Now do the same thing but with Ralsei. Trust me dude, you're gonna like it!"

Niko looked at Ralsei to see his reaction. The prince felt their gaze, turned his head and slightly nodded with a smile.

Now with no hesitation, Niko did

>>> [MAGIC] SUN'S BLESSING >> RALSEI

"Huh? What is this feeling?"

Unlike Susie, Ralsei wasn't overwhelmed by the energy but still felt as if his inner strength is getting brought up from within. The Weather Duo noticed the fiery sparkles around Ralsei.

"Now, things are finally heating up!" "Calm yourself, Lanino. Or you end getting melted out of excitement."

"Tonight's weather is..." "Tonight's weather is..."

"Moon." "Glorious moon."

As another team attack was about to commence, a flame appeared in Ralsei's palm.

Normally, he is hesitant to show off his fire magic for sake of sticking to his role in the party, just this once or is it due to the blessing, he decided to not hold back.

Ralsei swiped the air with his hands, giant fireballs manifested behind him and Niko.

The projectiles were clashing with each other with fireballs getting further and further away. To push the advantage further, Ralsei started channeling magic unto his palm.

Afterwards, the prince unleased all that accumulated magic power. Fireballs were rapidly circling around, creating a firestorm that swept all of enemy projectiles alongside the Weather Duo.

The audience remained speechless. The silence in the gallery and Lanino and Elnina lying on the ground made Ralsei feel awkward.

"Umm...I think I overdid it."

Thankfully, there was one voice in the audience extremely happy with his showcase of power.

"Are you kidding me dude!? That was fucking badass!"

Susie never saw him going all-out even in most tense situations so seeing a side she had never seen was a welcome surprise.

"Susie! There is a child here." - Ralsei replied, swiftly went back on his feet and scolding Susie.

While feeling completely unapologetic, Susie turned her attention to Kris.

"Say, Kris. Do you wanna give it a try?"

> ❤️ Sure   > Not feeling it

Upon seeing a prompt, Player was intrigued by the fact that Niko's actions seemingly affecting the game itself. Interested to see what's going to happen next, Kris slightly nodded after Player selected the option.

"Sweet, show them who's boss."

After being encouraged by Susie, Kris climb up the ring and went past Ralsei who was going back to where Susie was standing.

Upon reaching destination, Kris stood and staring in silence at Niko, which made them nervous.

"Umm...hi there. Let's do our best." - Niko said as they raised their hand to greet Kris.

But Kris payed no heed toward Niko's gestures, eventually breaking away the eye contact and started paying attention to Weather Duo who just stood up after getting incinerated by Ralsei's spell.

"It's a final turn! Go all out!" - Jigsaw Joe's announced with vigor.

Niko slapped their checks to calm their nerves and used the same move from before.

>>> [MAGIC] SUN'S BLESSING >> KRIS

After Niko's turn, Player to their surprise got an opportunity to make their move.

"(Oh, it's as if we're playing together...)"

After checking all available options in the menu, Player didn't seem to find anything to do beside attacking. Normally, they like going pacifist but it seems they had no other choice, although thankfully it was merely a mock battle.

>>> [ATTACK] >> LANINO

Despite being in rough shape, Lanino and Elnina looked at each other and defiantly smiled, not bothered by the overwhelming aura coming out of Kris.

"Look at that, dewdrop. Things got serious." "I see that, my dear sunshine. I think we should use THAT attack."

Their staffs crossed together, channeling a powerful chain attack.

"Today's broadcast is..." "Today's broadcast is..."

The Giant Sun was manifested, accompanied by the legion of stars and planets, a proof of their everlasting affection.

"Love!" "Everlasting love!"

As the orbital sphears were about to rain down, Niko turned their attention to Kris, who was in some sort of battle stance.

Kris was feeling strange after receiving Niko's blessing. It was soothing, invigorating, it gave them a semblance of freedom, even if it's just for a moment.

As Niko was about to say anything, Kris's red eye shined for a brief moment and then leaped toward upcoming avalanche.

The audience was incapable of following Kris, only seeing a thousand cuts being performed in real time.

Soon, Kris landed, attempting to strike a cool pose. Soon after, the Sun and it's orbitals blew up in spectacular fashion, only leaving fireworks as a trace.

The silence engulfed the Dojo until a familiar duo of the dragon and goat, celebrating their friend's incredible feat which soon Darkners followed, creating a wave of excitement that lasted a while.

And so, the battle with Weather Duo was concluded.

The heroes after a long (but heartfelt) celebration, they alongside Niko left the Dojo and went toward the Cafe.

WIth the jazz music in the background, they sat at nearest table. Swatch approached for a moment and offered them his services but Ralsei politely declined.

After all distractions were gone, Susie slammed the table and looked at Niko.

"Alright, spill the beans. What's your deal?" - Susie asked with squinted eyes.

Thankfully, Niko had enough time to prepare for this and attempted to ease the tensions.

"First, Iet me introduce myself. I'm Niko and I'm here on behalf of my friend." - Niko introduced themselves with sincerity as they wanted avoid lying as much as possible.

A second later, Susie pointed at herself.

"I'm Susie, that nerd is Ralsei and the statue over there is Kris."

"Hm, I was already acquainted with mister Ralsei."

"Mister Ralse- Hahaha! Man, I didn't know you were type of person to care about such stuff."

Susie teased Ralsei as she happily punched his arm a few times.

"...Just Ralsei would be fine with me."

"Hm." - Niko nodded, while a smile formed on their lips upon seeing their interaction.

Ralsei attempted to return back on topic.

"So Niko, you said something about being here on behalf of your friend."

Ralsei already knew who Niko meant when they mention a "friend", still he was curious about Niko's goal this time around.

"Yes, to be exact I was told to deliver something to a shopkeeper here."

"Shopkeeper? You mean Seam?"

"Hm. That item was a shard of glass."

Upon hearing the sentence, Susie and Ralsei tensed up.

"A glass shard...Shadow Crystal?" - Susie asked.

"Well...that's what I've been told they were called." - Niko answered while not elaborating more than necessary.

"How did your friend even get their hand on this, anyway? Were they also assaulted by a weirdo in the mech suit?"

"I don't know. When I told my friend I'm moving to this town, they gave that glass shard and asked me to deliver it to someone."

Upon hearing out a certain detail, suddenly something within Susie's head connected dots.

"Wait a sec...Aren't you that kid Officer Undyne was talking about?"

"? You heard of me?"

"She was talking about a kid loitering around the town, ring any bells?"

"Yeah...that's probably me." - Niko replied with awkward smile.

As the discussion kept going, eventually the atmosphere become more relaxed, to the point Niko asked numerous questions to the heroes regarding their adventures.

While they were fill in to some details, Niko thought it something unique to hear about them from the people in question.

"Say you guys...can I ask you about something?"

"Sure, what's up?"

For a moment there was a silence as Niko was collecting their thought to form an appropriate question.

"Weren't you ever...scared? Like did you ever though what would happen if you fail?"

"Scared? Nah, not really. There were few close calls but we pulled through. Besides..."

Susie looked at her compatriots who she shared the struggles with.

"...It doesn't matter who will fight us. The Knight, Titans...they can throw anything at us for all I care, at the end their butts will get kicked all the same!"

"Susie..." - Ralsei said.

The Prince always felt little depressed due to inevitability of the prophecy and he thought his attempts to change the prophecy were futile. But as the time went on, thanks to Susie's influence he gained hope that it would turned out well for all of them at the end.

Upon hearing Susie's reasoning, Niko nodded, satisfied with the answer. Next they stood up from the table.

"Thank you for letting me to listen to your stories, Susie, Ralsei, Kris. If you excuse me, I need to take care of something."

As Niko was about to leave the Cafe, Susie reminded them of something.

"By the way, don't say anything about Dark Worlds!"

"Hm."

After getting a reminder, Niko soon after left the Castle Town.

Once Niko left the school, Entity was scolding them for not going through their original plan.

"[It turns out it wasn't the smartest idea. We are fortunate, they didn't attempt to pry deeper into reasoning behind your visit.]"

"I know, I know! I already said I'm sorry." - Niko profusely apologized.

As Niko was going toward a crossroads, they saw a goat monster wearing a robe going south.

"Is that...?"

"[According to my data, this is Kris's mother. It appears she goes toward the church.]"

Niko looked over the church and soon they noticed "lights" flickering between black and white inside.

Niko hurried toward the entrance and saw darkness coming out of the recently opened doors, just like that time with the Bunker.

"That's not good...She must went inside."

As Niko was about to follow Toriel, Entity stopped them for a moment.

"[Wait Niko. This part is likely meant to be the part of the story. It may not be wise to intervene here.]"

But Niko shook off their head, already made their mind.

"Maybe...but there is no guarantee that she will be safe there. If I can...I want to make sure for it to be the case."

"[...I understand. I will relay the message to them.]"

"Hm. Thank you."

Niko took a breath and bravely went inside the newly created Dark World.

Somewhere in the Dark World, beneath the stairs leading toward the Dark Fountain lies Toriel, unconscious with the Knight still being in the air.

As the Knight was about to retrieve her, a rainbow-colored laser was quickly approaching. The Knight managed to dodge at the last moment although not without getting one of their horns blown away.

"Stay away from her!" - Niko shouted, which made Knight frown with annoyance.

The Knight began rapidly spawning dark swords, without wasting any more time Niko in a blink of the eye approached Toriel and created the barrier around them.

For a minute, Niko and the Knight were in impasse as they were awaiting each other's next move. Then suddenly, a rain of hammers fell on the Knight's head, forcing them turning into ball to dodge the attack while dispelling the swords in the process.

"Over here!"

Niko looked at the right and saw a figure in the dark toward them. Thanks to their immense strength, they managed to carry easily Toriel on their back to other side, despite not being a convenient process due to their small figure.

After hammers finally stopped raining, the Knight turned back to their true form and look around, unfortunately for them both Niko and Toriel were nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile in Castle Town, the trio were still in cafe, discussing their recent conversation with Niko.

"I'm surprised you didn't pursue the matter further." - Ralsei said to Susie.

The prince came to understand that Susie wasn't a type that liked people who were not willing to tell their whole deal. Surprisingly, Susie casually shrugged off.

"Oh, that? Nah. Look, I still have a feeling the kid is hiding something...but I think they would tell us if they could...y'know?"

Susie stared at celling as she recalled that time when Niko was looking at her with glittering eyes as she was retelling her adventures in the Dark World. Ralsei seeing his friend's softer side, saw an opportunity to tease her a little.

"Aww Susie, I never knew you had soft spot for kids."

"SHUP UP! That was one-time thing, okay!? I'm getting back to being a mean girl, don't get use to it!" - Susie exclaimed as she begun hastily eating desert she ordered after Niko left.

As Ralsei was laughing at his friend's reaction, Kris suddenly stood up.

"Kris? Is something wrong?" - Ralsei asked, confused about Kris's sudden action.

> ❤️ Toriel > It's nothing

Kris through Player's prompt, began explaining a need to take a look at how Toriel is doing.

"Oh that...alright, I guess it's good time to see how Toriel is doing. Ralsei, do you mind?" - Susie asked Ralsei, which he immediately shook his head.

"Do what you need to do. You can see anytime you want to." - Ralsei replied with reassuring smile.

"I will hold your word. See ya later."

Susie stood up and went right behind Kris.

"Let's go, Kris."

And now, the duo departed the Castle Town and went to where Toriel was suppose to be at the time.

Niko kept running after the mysterious stranger who helped them back there. The father they went, the surroundings become more darker until the silhouette suddenly stopped running.

"Here we are!" - The voice joyfully exclaimed.

Niko who barely was able to see anything, replied with an awkwardice due to the stranger's attidude.

"Um...I would appreciate if-"

Right before Niko could end the sentence, the bonfire lit itself while the lanterns swiftly banish the darkness, revealing the grandiose of the Study.

"Better now? Before we talk, how about putting her on that chair?"

Niko went to the armchair set right before the desk and gently put Toriel. It appeared she still was unconscious.

Then Niko went toward the mysterious stranger, a turtle-like monster who appeared to be an old man.

"I'm very grateful for your help, mister. If it wasn't for you, she could get hurt." - Niko expressed their gratitude.

"Oh no, I merely acted as distraction, you did the most work. Although...when I saw you back there, admittedly I was taken by surprise." - Old man said as he was stroking his beard.

"? How so?"

"A tiny figure, bravely confronting the Shadowy Demon it feels like it came straight out of the fairytale. You would make for a great protagonist."

"I don't think I did anything noteworthy here..."

Upon seeing Niko scratching their head, Old man laughed.

"Is that so? IS THAT SO?"

Niko smiled briefly before they recalled something important and asked Old man.

"Excuse me mister, if it isn't a problem, I have a request."

"I can tell. What's on your mind, youngster?"

Suddenly, Niko felt chilly as for a brief moment they got an impression as if Old man saw right through them.

"(Huh? Nevermind...) I have to look for the Knight, in meantime can you please look after her? My friend should appear here soon and will take it from there."

"I see no issue but I have to ask, are you sure you don't want wait for your friend?"

"There is a possibility someone else could be in danger like her, it's better to pursue the Knight now than later."

If Niko's gut is correct, the Knight is likely looking for them and Toriel. They thought it would be for the best for Toriel to stay here and once Player comes, they will escort here out of here. Besides, Niko also believed the Knight is a key to many mysteries as such it was a good opportunity to confront them as they likely still in the Dark World.

"If that's what you think. I'm sure whatever will happen, you will surely give them a run for their money."

"Hm! Thank you for your kind words. I will be going."

After Old man gave Niko a word of an encouragement, they went back to where they came from.

"Dammit...who the hell was that!? Was it...?"

Susie cursed quietly as she recalled what just recently transpired, they got struck by the dark swords then pushed off the edge by the insidious winds, all of this was caused by the Knight who was frantically flying around Dark World, seeking Niko and Toriel's whereabouts.

While Susie managed to stood up, as soon Kris attempted to do the same, they immediately fell to the ground.

"! Kris!"

Susie frantically approached her companion and got distressed upon seeing a large wound located somewhere near shoulders.

"Crap...you're bleeding. Here, let me heal it."

Susie took Kris's hand and used her healing spell. While part of the wound was patched up, it wasn't enough to heal it fully.

"That...that wasn't enough, huh..."

Then she picked Kris up, holding them close so that they could walk.

"Here, let me give you a shoulder. Let's hope Ralsei finds us soon..."

As they were going upstairs slowly, fortunately they didn't have to wait long to bump into the prince.

"....but how? What's that suppose to mean?" - Ralsei muttered as he was looking at the glass panel containing part of the Prophecy, however for some reason there is also a visible crack.

"That voice...hey Ralsei! Over here!"

Ralsei upon hearing Susie, turned his attention away and as soon as he saw them, he hurried to their side.

"! Kris, Susie! Are you alright!?"

"Seen a better days...Ralsei, Kris is bleeding and I tried to heal b-"

As soon Ralsei understood their plight, the prince used his healing spell, successfully patching all wounds they received just a moment good.

"Are you two feeling good, now?"

"...Yea, thanks...Wait, screw that!"

As she about to get depressed, she quickly shook off the anxiety upon recalling the gravity of their mission. Then she grabbed Ralsei's shoulders.

"Ralsei, we ran into a shadowy thing who attacked us on our way to the fountain!"

"I see. You must have met the Knight."

"! You mean..."

"Yes, the same Roaring Knight, our enemy." - Ralsei said as his glasses were concealing his eyes.

The Roaring Knight, their archenemy who is opening the fountains all over this town. The one that is destined to cause the end of the world.

Susie backed away and scratched her head as she recalled another detail.

"Oh, another thing. Toriel is somewhere here...again. We have to get to her before Knight finds her."

"Then let us not waste more time. Let's go."

As so, the heroes continued on their way, hoping they will find Kris's mother as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, from a place Kris and Susie fall off, Niko successfully went back to the start.

"The path...it's collapsed."

"[There is a sign of a strife. Cause unknown.]"

Niko looked through the now existing gap then went back a few steps.

"[Niko...are you going to seriously try to jump across the gap?]" - The Entity asked.

"It's not like there are other ways around."

Before Entity could object, Niko ran as fast as they could and jumped. Thanks to their dexterity inside Dark World, Niko easily jump through the intimidating gap to other side.

"See, nothing to be worry about!"

"[...]"

Entity remained silent but if they could they would definitely sigh.

Niko went a long way up until they reached the crossroads. They decided to go left as they were intrigued about what lied behind another set of stairs. Eventually, they reached the giant golden door with a Deltarune symbol.

"A door..."

Niko touched the door and pushed lightly but to no one's surprise it didn't do anything.

"[Analyze complete. This door leads to another Dark World.]"

"They are that close to each other?"

"[It appears so. However, I am unable to determine how to open it.]"

Niko scanned the area, attempting to locate their adversary.

"The Knight is not here. If they are still in this Dark World then they must be still looking for Toriel."

While the idea of another fountain being nearly soured Niko's mood, they weren't certain whenever the Knight just left the place like that. Still, Niko decided to went back to the Study to see how Toriel was doing.

After meeting the Old man, the heroes find their way to the Study.

"Oh, so you decided to come by? Splendid, can you come closer?"

"Hm..."

The Player stared at the Old man. His actual name is Gerson Boom, who Player knew from the other game. It didn't escape their attention that none of the heroes seemed to recognized him.

"So...what's up? We're kinda in a hurry." - Susie asked.

"Now, now it won't take too long, I promise. Actually, I think I saw someone you described earlier."

"!? Really?"

During the time they were together, Susie mentioned their purpose of being in the Dark World which including looking for Toriel. It appears Gerson managed to "recall" something.

"Indeed, in fact she is in this very Study. A brave youngster brought her here. I think...they were wearing an overcoat with a scarf."

Susie and Ralsei looked at each other, they were able to instantly realize that Gerson was describing Niko.

"Yes, we believe we know someone who fits that description." - Ralsei replied, making clear they are aware of who he is talking about.

As soon as Gerson heard a sounds coming from above, Gerson pointed at someone without looking as if he already knew who it was.

"Oh look, speaking of the devil."

The heroes turned their attention toward the place Gerson was pointing, it was Niko who is going downstairs.

"Niko, so you're here too, huh?"

"Oh...hello there." - Niko greeted the heroes.

Soon as Niko closed in, Susie took a sharp glance at Niko while pointing at them.

"Look, last time I let you off the hook but now...you have some explaining to do. You better stick to telling the truth, get it?"

Niko looked at Kris, as if they were awaiting Player's input on the matter. A second later, Entity has informed about their decision.

"["Go ahead but make sure to keep mine and Entity's involvement a secret." End Quote."]

After getting a heads up, Niko's gaze went back to Susie and nodded.

"Hm. Understood."

Niko proceeded to reveal their recent adventures in this world and how they came to the possession of the Shadow. Obviously, they omitted the part regarding Niko, Player, Entity and them being from another world.

The heroes were stunned by some of the revelations even Ralsei who already knew a part of it.

"So that's how it is...Still, somehow I'm not surprised you fought off the Knight..." - Susie said with a grin.

"Still, I don't get one thing. You mentioned a "friend" last time we talked. Was that just a cover-up story?"

"Oh that...yeah. I wasn't sure how much I could reveal to all of you. Sorry." - Niko apologized despite the fact it wasn't completely false.

"At least, I understand the feeling I have for a while." - Ralsei interjected.

"? You mean..."

"There is certainly another fountain in this town. But because the connection was so thin, I thought nothing of it until now. Although if Niko is correct...then entering that Dark World may be a bit tricky." - Ralsei said, referring the part about the Shelter and 3 set of codes required to open it.

"I guess...Crap, now what? Kris, any ideas?" - Susie asked Kris as they haven't spoken yet.

> Look for the codes in the Dark World > Search for the Knight > ❤️ Escort Toriel out of the Dark World

Player ponders for a bit before making their decision. Ultimately, they valued Toriel's safety above other options because they thought they are likely other ways of getting the codes as for the Knight, they have a feeling there is something more to their behaviour than meets the eye.

After selecting the option, Player stated their opinion through Kris.

"Yeah, I want to keep her out of danger too. Still, we need to find the way to the fountain up there." - Susie said.

"That shouldn't be a problem. I just returned from the place where fountain was. There is a door upstairs leading there." - Niko said, addressing Susie's concern.

"Sweet. That should be easy then."

The heroes and Niko approached to Gerson, who was in the middle writing something.

"Hey, old man! We need to see Toriel."

"...Oh, I see you're done. Well, sorry to tell ya but it would be difficult." - Gerson said.

"...What?"

Susie squinted her eyes, desperately trying to keep their anger in check.

"You see it happened that it just left my memory. It will take a bit to recall it. However, there is a way speed up the process. If you help me with a little thing the-"

"Bullshit." - Susie bluntly cut Gerson's sentence short.

"...Sorry?"

"You heard me. There is no fricking way you forgot. I've seen how you were messing around with us before we get here!" - Susie exclaimed as she was pointing at Gerson.

"Now, now you have a wrong idea, missy. How about we- "

"No, I'm not interested in hearing excuses. If you don't wanna cooperate..."

Her trusty devilsknife materializes in her hand.

"I WILL MAKE YOU COOPERATE!"

As she about to strike, in split second, a sound of crash emanated in the Study. When Susie looked at Gerson and was a shocked by what she saw. He was now fully armored and holding her off with a mighty hammer.

Next, Gerson easily pushed her away, creating a shockwave that end up blowing away everyone expect Niko, who firmly stood their ground.

When Ralsei regained consciousness, he scanned the room and as soon as he saw Susie still lying on the floor, he hurried to her side.

"Susie!"

As Ralsei was closing in, Susie managed to slowly get up.

"Please, listen to me. You don't have to fight him. Let's just do what he says, okay? I'm sure it won't take lo-"

"Ralsei, please stand aside. I will handle it."

"B-but..."

Suddenly, Susie put her hand on Ralsei's shoulder.

"Look at me."

Ralsei looked in her eyes through his tears. Susie's gentle touch was seemingly able to ease his worries.

"I got this, alright? I promise it won't take long." - Susie said with a brave smile.

Ralsei, who while still worried had a faith in her, slowly moved away.

"Are you sure about this?" - Niko asked, who had doubts as they sensed that Gerson was a formidable foe.

"I got this, just watch."

As Susie came closer to Gerson, he attempted to taunt her.

"Finally done? For a second I thought a mighty dragon was about to beg for mercy."

"Nah, this will be quick and you will be send flying this time, Old man." - Susie replied.

Upon seeing Susie brushing off his remark, he laughed.

"Then let us test your mettle!"

The laterns turned green, illuminating the Study. The battle between Susie and Gerson was about to commence.

The bell of justice rings...ATTACK to show what you've got!

It appears the prompt wanted the Player to be aggressive instead of stalling as per usual. While suspicious, Player decided to follow it for at least 1 turn.

>>> [ATTACK] Hammer Of Justice

As Susie was about to hit Gerson, he effortlessly jumped away, then send a shockwave toward her, turning Red SOUL into Green SOUL.

"As long as you're GREEN, you can't run away! Unless you FACE DANGER HEAD ON...These bullets will do you in."

The arrows began encroaching on Susie's position, Player utilized Susie's axe to block upcoming attacks.

"It's just like the Undyne fight..."

Once their turn came, Player deduced that being aggressive is likely a correct course of action. As such, they decided to try out something.

>>> [MAGIC] RUDE BUSTER

Susie channeled her magic powers unto the axe then launched an attack toward Gerson, who immediately deflected with his hammer. As deflected Rude Buster was about to hit Susie, the time slowed down and a prompt appeared on Player's screen.

After clicking the button without hesitation, Susie quickly recovered from shock and deflected back Rude Buster, catching Gerson off guard and making him spin around.

"Ha! Take that, old man!"

"That wasn't half bad. Maybe we will get something out of ya." - Gerson said, praising the purple dragon.

The battle continued to raged on for quite some time. At the sidelines, the heroes and Niko were nervously watching Susie's struggle.

"This is way too intense...is Gerson suppose to be one of those hidden bosses?

Many turns later, Gerson has spoken to Susie.

"Are you sure you wanna keep going? Even a blinded fool could see your condition."

Upon hearing his remark, Susie merely smiled and tighted her grip on her axe.

"Heh...I've never felt better...Do your worst."

Despite Player's efforts, Susie was few hits away from getting knocked out. However, she firmly stood her ground despite her being outmatched.

"That's the spirit, missy! Prepare yourself!"

Impressed by Susie's perseverance, for his final attack he went all-out as he thought anything else would been a disservice.

The shells were flying around, arrows coming out from all angles and Gerson straight up teleporting right above Susie.

It was a hectic experience, Player was on their wits end as they thought they will likely have to restart the fight from beginning in case of failure.

Fortunately, after all this struggle, Susie managed to weather this relentless assault.

"Old man." - Susie said as Devilsknife disintegrated from her hands.

"Now that you pushed me to this extent, you leave me with no choice."

Susie kept channeling her magic until green particles appeared between her hands.

"TAKE THAT!"

Gerson who didn't feel any ill intent behind the move, he remained still and took it in.

"Is that everything ya got? It's more akin t-"

Suddenly in blink of an eye, Susie closed the distance and attempted to attack distracted Gerson. He attempted to block the attack at last minute but unfortunately for him, he didn't notice Susie aimed at something different.

The hammer's handle was split in half, making Gerson defenceless.

"How's that?" - Susie asked, savouring her moment of trumpth.

To her question, Gerson responded with hearty laugh.

"You got me, that's for certain, missy."

But Susie still kept her axe near Gerson's head.

"Enough stalling, lead us to Toriel."

Gerson's armor was replaced with his normal outfit, the lanterns stopped glowing green. Then he approached the bonfire and soon after the fire disappeared, revealing a secret passage.

"When you are ready, come inside. Everything will become clear."

Afterwards, the observers approached the recent victor.

"Susie! That was incredible. I knew you could do it."- Ralsei said.

"Hm. You did great, Susie. Although I must say, you weren't alone in this, right?" Niko asked, referring the Player.

"Hm...Yea, Kris helped me with this, so thanks again buddy."

Susie showed off her gratitude to which Kris slightly nodded.

And so, the heroes and Niko went inside the hidden passage in hopes of finding Kris's mother.

After recovering sleeping Toriel from the Study, the heroes ventured forth toward the dark fountain, guided by Niko. Once they reach a certain gap, Niko gently put Toriel on the floor then grabbed Kris and Susie who were flabbergasted by their action and threw them over to the opposite side. As Ralsei's turn was coming, the prince signaled with his hand that it wasn't needed, then floated over the gap thanks to levitation magic.

As they were together going forward, Susie was scanning over the area, looking for potential threats.

"It looks like they chickened out. A shame, I hoped to test my new axe." - Susie boldly exclaimed.

Before the heroes went on their way, Gerson called Susie over for a 1 on 1 conversation. No one expect the Player knew what they were talking about but once she came out of the hidden room, she had a Shadow Crystal and newly gained weapon in her possession.

"The Knight likely through that door..." - Niko muttered to themselves.

However, Susie was close enough to hear their muttering.

"Huh? What door?"

As Niko was about to state the obvious, they managed to hold off their tongue as they recalled they didn't disclose that information earlier.

Upon filing them in, Ralsei insisted to go there first and so together they went left to see the giant door.

Soon after reaching the top of the stairs, the heroes were busy staring at a familiar sight.

"From I understand, this door leads to another Dark World." - Niko commented.

Ralsei came closer and closed his eyes as he put his hand on the gateway as if he was in middle of checking something.

Eventually, prince's eyes opened and stated the following.

"Niko is correct. I can feel the presence of another fountain. Still...I'm not sure how to open it."

Ralsei suspected that the Knight is likely behind these doors but as Ralsei was about to ponder about possibilities, Susie proposed an unusual idea.

"So? What's the problem? Can we just...destroy the damn thing?"

"I don't think...this would work." - Ralsei replied.

Susie sighed as she figured no one was getting the easy solution then she pointed at Niko.

"Niko, remember you made us strong? Let's do that again."

Upon understanding, Niko clapped their hands in delight.

"! That's right! This could work." - Niko said.

Kris and Ralsei stepped aside while Niko put Toriel near them.

After everything was in order, Niko channeled their magic into the lightbulb then casted the recently gained spell unto Susie.

Upon feeling newly gained strength, the girl begun channeling her own magic unto axe until it's blade was purple with tint of red. Then, she ran as fast as she could and jumped with an axe above her.

Susie splitted the gate with ease, leaving a purple markings around the remains as a testament of the blessing from the Lightbringer which left the rest of heroes left in awe.

"Sick, now what's the plan? Are we going in or...?" - Susie asked as she discarded her weapon.

Niko stepped forward to announce their intentions.

"It would be for the best if we split up. You guys, take her out of here while I will pursue the Knight. Whatever the reason behind the existence of another fountain, it smells like trouble."

"By yourself?" - Ralsei asked with raised eyebrow.

"Hm." - Niko nodded.

"Hold up, you're not going alone. Ralsei."

As if they were in sync, Ralsei immediately stood right next to Niko.

"I appreciate for concern but I think it would be better if-"

"Ralsei will go with you and that's final. After we take Toriel out of here, we will join you, got it?"

After seeing Susie's smirk and Ralsei's determined look, Niko figured that they won't budge on their decision.

"I understand, we have no time to waste. Let's go Ralsei."

"See you later, you two."

Ralsei waved at Kris and Susie before he followed Niko inside the gateway that led to another Dark World.

After successfully sealing the fountain, Kris, Susie and Toriel were lying in the lobby. The duo were the first one to stand up.

As they scanned the area, Susie noticed a broken lock lying in front of the door from which a small dark particles were leaking.

A moment later, Toriel woke up from her slumber, who still had a headache.

"....Where am I...Hello Kris, Susie...Did I lose consciousness?" - Toriel asked, who was focusing her attention on the kids.

"Umm, when we entered you were already at the ground, ma'am." - Susie explained.

"Is that right..."

Toriel took her phone to see what time was it then a second later a shock could be clearly seen from Toriel's face.

"Wait, we're already late!?"

Toriel burst out from the church and the duo soon followed. What they witnessed was Toriel talking to the crowd who came for choir rehearsal, profusely apologizing.

"oh, finally. i thought these people would keep blocking the way until the night." - Sans said, a local shopkeeper.

Susie was taken by surprise by the skeleton who somehow was able to stand right beside them without anyone noticing. Before she could comment, Toriel approached them who was able to successfully disperse the crowd.

"Sorry, you two. You must been really excited for the choir rehearsal." - Toriel said with an awkward smile.

"N-no problem. Take a rest as much as you like." - Susie replied.

"I will and Kris. Don't be too late, will you?"

After Toriel went on her way home, Sans started speaking.

"thanks for your help, you were really saviours, you know?" - Sans said with a wink.

"Uhh...couldn't you just move away? There werent that many people."

"nah, i'm too fat to squeeze in between the crowds." - Sans replied, who continued giving Susie a headache.

"Right..."

"anyways, i can now go. see you around."

After that "interesting" interaction with Sans, Susie went back to main topic.

"Okay...let's catch up to them before anything bad happens."

Once Susie re-entered the church, Kris looked around then took their phone and before the Player could see anything, the screen went black.

While the tremors keep shaking them and dark clouds began forming at the bottom, Niko and Ralsei continued moving forward until they could see the fountain from far away.

"There is fountain right ahead but...where are the tremors coming from?" - Ralsei asked, anxious as he couldn't understand on what's going on.

Then, as if they meant to answer his question, Entity's voice ringed in Niko's head.

"[According to my analysis, an overflow of darkness is destabilizing the Dark World. I suspect our adversary may be behind this.]"

Niko's brows furrowed as they recalled the Knight but then their thoughts quickly ventured to the being that was behind it all.

"We gonna hurry before things go out of control." - Niko stated.

As they entered a maze filled with bookshelves, they could hear screeching nearby. Soon, they saw two silhouettes being harassed by the beings that looked suspiciously like they ones from the Cyberworld.

"There is someone up ahead. We have to help them!"

"Niko! Wait for me!" - Ralsei exclaimed as he struggled to keep up with Niko.

Once Niko closed the distance, they swiftly raised the barrier, pushing back all Titan Spawn outside. Immediately after, the environment turned dark then in response Ralsei, who caught up with Niko, created a fire in his palms, giving enough light for them to see what's right before them. After seeing prince's spell, Niko talked to Ralsei.

"Ralsei, I have an idea."

"What is it?"

"I can deal with them but I need some help. Can you try using your magic on the lightbulb?"

Ralsei, who was already somewhat familiar with Niko's skills, agreed without hesitation.

"Okay, I'll try my best."

Ralsei created another fireball then send it to the lightbulb. Then it proceeded to absorb it, which caused it to shine brighter.

After Niko noticed their idea was successful, they channeled their own magic. Then, the light within lightbulb began emanating strongly, it was powerful it forced Ralsei and others to cover their eyes.

Within the instant, it dispelled surrounding darkness alongside purifying all Titan Spawn nearby. When they opened their eyes, the enemies were no more. Niko noted in their head to thank Susie later.

"Oh my, big thanks, dear Lightbringer. I thought those creatures would get me!" - Mizzle said, relieved.

"The darkness engulfed the world below and yet a lantern defiantly stood against it." - Organikk added, unbothered about their peril.

"Hm. You're welcome. Let's go, Ralsei."

As they kept going with the powered lightbulb, which prevented any hostile being from approaching them, Niko noticed peculiar glass panels they were passing by. Eventually, the curiosity won them over and stopped to take a closer look.

"What are those supposed to be?"

Ralsei approached Niko and stood right beside them.

"...This is the prophecy. Or at least, it should be."

Niko turned their head toward Ralsei as they taken interest in the meaning behind this choice of words.

"What do you mean?"

Ralsei corrected his glasses right before he started speaking again.

"Normally, these panels were suppose to showcase events in the Prophecy but...it looks like soon it may not the case."

Niko turned their attention back to the glass panel and moment later they spotted a crack within it.

"[As you two were running, I made some screenshots for each glass panel you met. It seems there is a crack in relatively same spot. Whatever the cause is, it would be advisable for us to discuss this later once we concluded our business here." - Entity stated.

"..."

Ralsei noticed Niko was deep in thought and at the same time, he was compelled to ask about a certain matter.

"Niko...may I ask you something?"

"Hm? Is something wrong?" - Niko asked back as they felt the hesitance in his voice.

"Well, we didn't get opportunity to be alone since that time in the Castle Town. And so...do you perhaps know...what is going on?"

"Uh...I..."

Niko struggled to come up with an answer once they saw Ralsei was giving them a hopeful look. It is true that during their adventures, something was forming in Niko's head still they thought there are too many mysteries to solve in order to able to figure out a clear answer.

"Look, I cannot say for certain but...I have feeling some things will became clear soon."

"! Truly!?" - Ralsei yelled as he frantically came closer and took Niko's hands, making them flustered due to Ralsei's sudden action.

"Y-Yeah, once we find the Knight then we-"

As Niko was about to explain their train of thought, suddenly a shadow came from above and swept Niko.

It took a moment before Ralsei could comprehend on what just happened. Upon looking up, Ralsei saw someone or something carrying Niko away.

"NIKO!"

Not wasting any more time, Ralsei chased after the shadow who was going further and further away.

After successfully taking Toriel to safety, Kris and Susie eventually went back to the Dark World. As they were moving forward, soon they spotted a figure of Ralsei getting close, who was looking up.

"Hey Ralsei! Wher-"

But Ralsei wasn't attention as such he quickly bumped into Susie, causing both of them to fall down. Fortunately, it also caused Ralsei to regain focus.

"Susie? There is not time! I must-"

"Hold on, dude. Take a breath."

As Susie helped the prince getting up, he took up on her advice.

"Sorry that you had to see me in this state, Susie, Kris." - Ralsei said, feeling apologetic.

"It's all good but where's Niko? Weren't you together?"

"! Right, the Knight took them away."

"The heck!? What happened?"

As Ralsei was explaining the situation, Entity has contacted Player.

"[We have an emergency.]" - Entity bluntly stated.

"What happened? Weren't we suppose keep the contact to minimum?"

"[There is no time. There is a strange inteference around Niko's position which makes me unable to contact them.]"

Player suddenly felt pain in their chest, it's as if their heart just sunken upon hearing the bad news.

"Can you track Niko?"

"[Yes although I'm unable to pinpoint their exact location. We have to be quick.]"

As Entity began explaining their plan, Player cut it short as they didn't want waste any more time.

"Let's do it."

There is only one think in their mind.

As the Knight kept flying, Niko attempted to break free but to avail. Once the Knight noticed they successfully shake off the chaser, they grabbed Niko by throat.

While Niko's vision was blurry, they were able to notice a blade materializing in their hand. In last ditch attempt, Niko summoned the lightbulb and poured as much as magic as it was possible into it.

As it was still powered by Ralsei's spell, the lightbulb shined brightly which blinded the Knight, forcing them to drop Niko.

Niko kept going down, sometimes bursting through floating debris or bookshelves until they reached a stable platform.

If it wasn't Niko's stats, they would be already be done for. Still it hurt a lot as such Niko struggled to stand up.

Niko's instict kicked in and jumped away at the last moment as the Knight somehow cut the part of the platform from the distance.

As Niko looked at their enemy, they saw the Knight rapidly approaching. Unfortunately, they were too injured to dodge in time and as Niko was about to resign to their fate, a portal appeared behind them.

A gray figure jumped from the portal and resounting clash occurred, causing a shockwave. As Niko took a closer at their savior, their image is not what they expecting.

They looked similar to Kris but they were fully gray and they had no face, however there was something about them that put Niko at ease.

The Knight was stuck in the deadlock by unknown assailant who was wielding a dagger-like shard which suspiciously look like their sword. Right before the Knight could do anything, their opponent used their full strength to push them back, which ended up getting them to flinch.

"Niko, are you okay? Sorry for being late.

Once Niko heard Player's voice in their head, the tears started gathering in their eyes but they quickly wiped it off.

"Hm. I'm a bit beat up but I can stand." - Niko replied as they made a brave smile.

As they two of them take a look at their adversary, they looked a bit different than the last time. They had something that looked a mantle and their armor looked much more bulky.

"[Warning. I detected a sudden surge of darkness. You mu-]"

As Entity was about finish the sentence, unexpectedly something cut them off.

"Not good, Niko brace yourself!

"Hm!"

Immediately after, the Knight loudly roared, sending a powerful shockwave across the Dark World. Niko and Player's Vessel felt a great pressure but despite that they were barely able to hold on.

Once the Knight saw they were still standing, they swiftly drew their weapon for which the other side responded in kind. A raging battle is about to commence.

The duo awaited for a second as they hope Entity would say something but they quickly realize it will likely stay like to this for at least for this battle. As such Player took the lead.

"It's looks like we're on our own. Niko, check their stats meanwhile I attack them to see what's going to happen.

"Hm! Understood." - Niko nodded.

>>> [CHECK] THE ROARING KNIGHT

>>> [ATTACK]

As Niko was the first in the order, their action came first.

THE ROARING KNIGHT - 122 ATK 122 DF 50000 HP

The harbinger of doom, destined to drown the world in darkness.

Player struck the Knight but they dealt much less damage than they expected.

>>> - 134 HP (49866/50000 HP)

"? I thought that weapon would be super-effective against them..."

But before they could ponder, the Knight counter attacked. The Knight pointed at them then a sea of stars were coming of their finger which then exploded after a short while into smaller projectiles.

As the duo thought they survived the attack, suddenly the Knight did a quick cleave, which caught them off guard.

>>> - 33 HP (467/1000 HP)

>>> - 82 HP (108/200 HP)

When their turn come, the Player looked through [ACT] tab and while they noticed they have interesting skills like “X-Slash” and “FriedPipis”, they didn’t get what they hoped.

"Niko, do you have anything new in the [ACT] tab?"

"Anything new? Let me see…Ah! I think I have found something. A skill called „Unleash” but it’s pretty expensive." – Niko said.

"Alright, let’s gather TP and see it goes."

>>> [DEFEND]

>>> [DEFEND]

Niko raised a barrier meanwhile Vessel brought up a shield, preparing to weather the next attack.

The Knight began slashing, creating rifts in X-pattern while projectiles were coming out of those rifts.

It was a devastating attack as it resulted in Vessel getting knocked out, forcing them to kneel.

>>> - 78 HP (389/1000 HP)

>>> - 108 HP (0/200 HP)

"Are you okay!?” – Niko exclaimed, terrified of the worst case scenario.

"Please, don’t worry. I’m not actually physically there. Although, I’m afraid I won’t be to assist you now…"

As Niko was looking through their [ACT] tab, they noticed another option was available which Niko pressed it without hesitation.

>>> [RestoreVessel]

Niko muttered words then a ray of light shine on the Player, healing them back to full.

"Niko…I’m very squishy, pretty sure I’m in 2-shot range maybe will be able to 3 hits at best. You reaaaally should have went with that  “Unleash” skill."

As a response for Player’s scolding, Niko shook off their head.

"Maybe but I don’t like seeing you getting hurt. Even if it’s just a Vessel.” – Niko responded.

Before Player could retort back, the Knight has sent massive amount of swords, creating very tight corridors. Niko was doing quite well but Player not so much, although it could been much worse.

>>> - 67 HP (133/200 HP)

"I forgot to ask, what “Unleash” skill does?"

"It exposes the weakness, so I think it would be a good idea to attack.” – Niko explained.

"I see, let’s do it then. "

>>> [Unleash]

>>> [ATTACK]

Niko's SOUL shined brightly, the Knight roared in pain as their sword disappeared and suddenly, an eyeball came out of the Knight’s chest. Player’s Vessel had no issue in spotting the weak spot.

>>> - 3355 HP (46511/50000 HP)

As they were preparing for the Knight’s attack, luckily for them the Knight was still stunned.

"So we get more than one turn? That was lucky." – Player said, a bit relieved after learning they have a bit more leeway than they initially though

>>> [ATTACK]

>>> [ATTACK]

Continuing on their offensive, Niko did a spin attack, using their scarf as weapon which was surprisingly deadly while Vessel stabbed the Knight just like before.

>>> - 13365 HP (33146/50000 HP)

>>> - 3617 HP (29529/50000 HP)

The Knight finally recovered from stagger, enraged began rapidly summoning swords which then fell on their adversaries, two at the time.

The timing on those was incredibly tight, Niko especially struggled with moving away at the right time.

>>> - 218 HP (171/1000 HP)

>>> - 114 HP (19/200 HP)

"Damn, that is rough. Thank god for those healing items."

After successfully taking control of Vessel, Player noticed they carried over all their items they had in possession, they guessed it was likely thanks to the Entity.

>>> [DEFEND]

>>> [ITEM] SpinCake

As the cake appeared before Niko, they looked at it confused.

"Uh...am I suppose to do something here?” - Niko asked.

"Eat it and it will heal you. "

"Ohhh, I see!"

Niko and Player's Vessel ate the SpinCake, leaving no leftovers.

>>> + 160 HP (331/1000 HP)

>>> + 160 HP (179/200 HP)

”Yummy! Not as good as mama's pancakes but it will do."

As soon Knight's turn began, the red lines were appearing and as soon as they were close to any of the enemies, they did a quickslash.

The Knight kept pressuring them then as finisher their sword suddenly turned into a baseball bat with a ball appearing right in front of them.

Then they hit with an incredible force, aiming at Niko who barely avoided it, however upon hitting the wall, it splitted into bunch of smaller balls which caused additional problems.

>>> - 279 HP (52/1000 HP)

>>> - 177 HP (2/200 HP)

When their turn ended, the Knight began ominously glowing.

"Oh oh, I think we should have enough TP but..."

"Hm! Right away." - Niko replied, immediately understanding that whatever the Knight was doing, it was a bad omen.

>>> [Unleash]

>>> [ATTACK]

Thanks to the heal earlier, they were able survive long enough to gather necessary TP.

As the monstrosity was blinded was once, the duo used that opportunity to deal as much as possible in following turns. Thanks to their combined efforts, Knight's HP dropped below 20%.

>>> (9385/50000 HP)

Suddenly, the Knight rushed toward exhausted Niko, attempting to finish them off but the Vessel intercepted them.

The Black and White auras were fighting for supremacy but unlike last time, the Knight didn't underestimate their opponent and began putting much bigger force, attempting to break the deadlock.

As the Vessel was put on their knees but then they felt a sudden surge of energy. Immediately upon seeing the clash, Niko channeled all their remaining magic into lightbulb in hope to aid their friend.

With that, Vessel began slowly regaining ground until they pushed the Knight into defensive. With a quick swoop, Vessel cut down the Knight's sword into pieces then with a series of strikes struck their disarmed adversary.

The Knight roared, which shook the Dark World. As the mantle detached itself, the darkness burst out of Knight's body then a peculiar silhouette revealed itself  with only a smudge of darkness remaining.

”(! Someone's was inside.)"

As Vessel was about to finish the job, Niko ran past them and cover their defeated foe.

"Niko, we have no time for this...

”They clearly weren't themselves, we cannot act hastily."

"THEY WERE THREATENING YOUR LIFE FOR GOD'S SAKE! I'M NOT GONNA TAKE ANY CHANCES!

”I WON"T MOVE AWAY! If you want to deal with them...you have to get through me."

Player quietly look at their dear friend. Clothes tattered, they have bruises all over them. They were clearly barely able to stand straight and yet, Niko was not willing to budge.

> Finish Off The Knight > Stand Down

Seeing those options, Player's eyes were constantly switching up between it and Niko, who had that determined look.

After a moment that felt like eternity, the Vessel stepped back and put their weapon away.

During the whole commotion, Susie and Ralsei were watching over Kris who was still unconcious. Eventually, a portal appeared in front of them, followed by Niko and Vessel coming out of it.

"Niko? Is that really you?" - Ralsei asked, distressed by Niko's state.

"Well...it's a long story." - Niko replied as they nervously laughed.

Next, Susie stood up and spoke her mind.

"You have a lot of explaining to do. Who is that weirdo, what happened to you, what..."

Vessel payed no mind to Susie's ranting and approached unconcious Kris. The red SOUL appeared inside their chest then it detatched itself and flew toward Kris.

Once the SOUL entered Kris, Vessel began disintegrating until it completely disappeared from sight. they slowly opened their eyes. As they were about to get up, Susie sprinted toward them and unexpectedly embrace them tightly.

"I'm glad...you're okay..." - Susie muttered as she struggled to not tear up completely while not paying attention to anything else.

Kris was surprised by Susie's sudden action but eventually they returned the hug.

"Welcome back, Kris." - Ralsei said with a smile, relieved that his friend was okay.

Niko who was observing them from afar, turned their attention to the envelope.

After successfully defusing the situation, the Knight or whoever was acting as the Knight disappeared from sight, only this strange envelope remained in it's place.

Niko wasn't able to decipher it's content as in the letter they were bunch of different symbols which involves hand signs, emoticons etc.

However, even now Niko had a feeling that things about to get...convoluted to say at least.

Notes:

And that would be it for the time being.
Took a while but I'm glad I was able to finish this chapter at last.
As you probably noticed, this chapter is where things are about to get off the rails as far as Deltarune's story is concerned. And yes, that was part of the reason why this chapter took so long to write.
If you have any questions regarding this little tale, ask away! If not, that's also fine.
As to what's next, the story will continue once Chapter 5 as for anything else we shall see.
Thank you for reading and I hope all of you will have a great day! :D
