Summary
Every mammal on the planet participates in the world's largest and most sophisticated game of chess. There are allies and opponents; some mammals aim to improve themselves to near exclusivity, while others attempt to improve themselves while influencing others around them. It's a game where anybody may be the king or queen, but they can also be used as pawns by others if they make the wrong judgment calls. Nick and Judy are just getting started in their relationship and have returned from their Christmas break to continue navigating Zootopia City's tumultuous political and social landscape. Existing criminal operations are being shattered across the city by a steady stream of foreign intervention and sabotage. Worse, despite the efforts of the Greater Zootopia Territory's law enforcement agencies, the influx of enslaved mammals is expanding. Individuals from the group continue to elude detection at all levels of state intelligence collection, shocking local criminal leaders and civilian officials alike. The pieces of that one-of-a-kind chess match continue to move, or be moved, around the board in a rather anarchic fashion and the city's most iconic duo must match their pieces' movements carefully to avoid being separated.

One year after Zootopia 2, and the Lynxley family secret revealed, the Mammal Inclusion Initiative gets rewritten and broadened, bringing recruits of different size and species from distant biomes and traditionalist towns. To help them adapt, Chief Bogo assigns Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps to lead the newly formed Integration Unit. Training the rookies isn’t simple, however. Each brings fears and old prejudices, forcing Nick and Judy to confront divisions they thought the city had outgrown.
As tensions rise, their true feelings for each other start slipping through the cracks. Just as the unit finds its rhythm, a wave of staged crimes, planted evidence, and anonymous threats strikes the city, all aimed at destroying the Inclusion Initiative and what it stands for. A growing hate group is determined to keep the “lesser” mammals and reptiles out of the city and ZPD alike. With unity fading and their recruits losing hope, Nick and Judy must guide their team, face their unresolved emotions, and expose those who are orchestrating the chaos. To save the initiative, and each other, they’ll have to take the leap and trust the other to catch them.

you’re probably here because Zootopia 2 is coming out in like…what…four days? i’ve been in and out of my Zootopia/Wildehopps fixation for years, but it’s finally coming back and it feels GREAT. so you know I had to write at least some type of fanfic about ‘em, no matter how long or short it is, or if it flops, i don’t really care lmao. i’ve never posted my work before but i’ve been writing my entire life so…enjoy !! “AHHH!” Judy screamed as she turned the corner of her door and entered the living room. To her surprise, Nick was no longer locked away in his room. He sat on the couch, reclining carelessly in front of the TV, which he hadn’t bothered to prop onto the stand that Judy had purchased. But that was besides the point because Nick was naked! Or— more accurately, practically naked. He wore nothing but checkered boxers and a pair of fuzzy slippers.
“What are you doing?” Judy yelled, covering her eyes with her left paw.
“Um… watching TV…” Judy couldn’t see Nick’s face, but he sounded confused.
“I can see that,” she grimaced, “but why are you naked?” She peeked out from between the spaces in her paw.
Nick looked down at his boxer-clad body. “I’m not naked, I’m wearing my pajamas.”
“Gah!” Judy huffed in frustration. “You can’t just hang out in our shared spaces only wearing underwear! How would you feel if I did that.” She immediately blushed, realizing the image that she had just put in Nick’s head.
