During the zombie apocalypse, Wriothesley has been going through it, he lost his husband, was on the run after his home became too dangerous to raise his daughter. Then he meets Kaveh, a man living in the outskirts in a fenced in house with a vegetable garden, trying to survive after losing his own husband Alhaitham to the outbreak. Kaveh has graciously let Wriothesley and Sigewinne stay as long as they pull their own weight but mainly because the blond wouldn't dare turn away a parent and child away. But, the trust between these two is shaky at best as they cohabitate and try to navigate the end of the world as best as they can.
But in these trying times any sort of company is appreciated and a reprieve from the isolation that has been haunting all of them. Whatever could go wrong?

Out of the corner of his eye he could see Kayama with Eri, manicured fingers pointing at the girl’s hair decoration, now with a new sprig of silver tinsel to add a bit of glitter and shine to the bauble, as the pair pilfered a few cookies from the snack table.
But it was the breath, low and soft and rhythmic, beside him that held his thoughts and drew him back to the boy whose gaze flickered about the room, as though he were trying to memorize every detail, every face, every sight and sound.
Almost like he were peering through a window.
And wasn’t it interesting, that clouded expression that filtered through those eyes? A conflicted series of emotions twisting the child’s face as he seemed to recall and consider something.
